Why does BETHEL NOT ALLOW district and circuit overseers to get-together.

Some time ago a district overseer I know decided to have a social gathering of the DO and CO's

    after a district convention.

When Bethel found about it, the DO was told to, and did cancel it immediately.

I have often wondered why they don't want the DO's and CO's to socialise.

    What do you think?

I have no knowledge of that situation but I would venture a guess that the Society did not want the DO's and CO's to appear elitest or clicky.

Either that or they didn't want them exchanging notes about all the bullshit they see going on.

That's weird, but I think it was just another thing to say "no" to. They just love saying "no."

Was it possibly a bad excuse by the DO because he wanted to
hobnob with some richer JW members?

I think they are always taken out to dinner and just want the
    best offer.

It just seems like something they would say no to. If nothing else, because it sounds like some kind of professional conference. next thing you know, they'd be wearing special badges, giving little powerpoint presentations, telling stories and who knows what. No, it's better to make them feel like they're out there on their own, with their only link to the mothership the Service Department.

Interesting OTWO, but I know that not to be the case.

In fact the DO was very upset when he was ordered to cancel.

You know Daniel, I think you might be on to something here.

Their support system should be "mother" not each other.

Actually it seemed like a good idea to me, particularly for the wives.

They are thrown in at the deep end without any training to speak of.

I'm sure there are situations where more experienced CO's wives could help newbies.

    Here's what can happen.

First, one of them starts a discussion about something theocraptic. Of course, at first it goes smoothly. But in time, they run into something that the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger was not totally clear about. A heated argument ensues, and is ultimately settled when someone actually thinks. The solution goes against the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger, but is totally in line with what the Bible actually says.

Now, when they go about their businesses, they are going to spread this "apostate" material into the congregations. People in the congregations are going to have to think, and eventually it will become transparent that there is a discrepency between what the hounder-hounder is now teaching and what the Filthful and Disgraceful Slavebugger wants them to teach. Result: More apostasy.

Yeah, what daniel-p said. Having those relatively high up in responsibility getting together and discussing the grittier things of JW'ism could well lead to autonomy.
