Oh and to give my opinion about the Mac you've inherited...take it and let the kids use it. It's user friendly for kids and it won't get any viruses.

I have to give one of them to my brother.

I would feel too stingy to keep them both.

Besides JWD (very important BTW), all I run are accounting programs, and desktop pusblishing programs. I am computer easy for the first time in years.

I love photo booth on the Mac, I took the pic in my avitar in comic book on that a few weeks ago. Too much fun with the grandkids.

What I am hearing so far is Mac's don't have as many virusus, and if you aren't ingrained in PC, easier to use.

If you're the type of computer user who just wants to get work done (be it photo editing, home movies, or slideshows)and are more concerned about user experience than tinkering with hardware to max out performance: then you'd consider the mac. Even then only if you have considerable spare change. :)

BT broadband UK = I heard a rumour it won 2007 best support for macs.

If I wasn't so red I'd rush out and buy one!

give each box a week of doing your normal stuff and see which works best in what you use it for. That's the box you keep.

I use Ubuntu Linux. Works great, cheap PC hardware, no virus woes.
