Looks like nobody else has posted photos from our "night," so I'd better do it myself, if only to stop the gossip ...
First, we met up at the Jolly Judge:
ninja (and friend), tijkmo, Eyes Open, AlphaOmega, myself and Mrs IT enjoyed a few drinks, exchanged stories, jokes, transcripts, videos and books; not forgetting some good music which tijkmo was handing out on free CDs to anyone who would take them.
(A bit like magazine work, come to think of it ... sorry tijkmo, on further reflection, it was nothing like magazine work: we were all pleased to receive the CDs.)
ninja and friend couldn't stay all evening and after a couple of hours they retired to the train station to return to the 'dear green place.'
The rest of us returned to the same excellent restaurant we'd visited the previous evening and had another superb meal from their extensive menu:
The wine flowed faster as the hours passed, while an adjacent table sang 'Happy birthday' in Gaelic. We strained our voices to be heard above the general din of conversations (note: it's not a good idea to 'phone a friend' on a mobile phone from an Edinburgh establishment on a Saturday evening, even if it is to settle vital questions regarding Leonard Cohen's (or was it He-Who-Used-To-Be-Known-As-Prince's?) musicology), the food was excellent and the company even better. What more could we ask?
Gary and Sirona, your presence was missed and a glass or three was raised in thanks in your direction, even if we may not have been actually thinking of you at that precise moment.
scotsman, you let me down again, you promised you would sacrifice anything ... Get (way)laid again?!! Ok, I didn't wear the pink catsuit, it clashed too awfully with the scarlet Vans, but what's so wrong with lilac ... ?
stilla, thanks, we did, and more than one, too: you owe us!
Xena, didn't Ross tell you he only bought a one-way ticket? Look forward to meeting you another time!

We kept looking for them, but assumed they spotted us first and fled ...

When potential "attendees" don't post in the thread for weeks and weeks it's a good sign the interest isn't there or that circumstances have changed, so I wasn't expecting loads. We may have been small in number, but it was still very enjoyable.
And what's wrong with cider? :) -
