Getting to know God through creation --- isn't that pantheism?

What I have to say is my personal take as I'm not affiliated with any religion at all. I did the same thing - searching for God, did the church thing, but I found it too fake / commercialised....

I honestly believe people are searching for an idea of God that they have got from the bible - this God that can do miraculous things and everything else that goes along with it - in our humaness we have misunderstood the whole concept of God - looking "without" - looking to someone/thing to right wrongs, save us, forgrive us (pretty much because we don't want to take responsibilty for our own actions/words) when the whole time we should have been looking "within".

We are God/part of God/part and parcel of the Divine (however you want to look at it) - we have to progress to that state of mind/being. If you believe Jesus existed then Jesus / Budda / Mohammed attained that status - these men never followed any specific religion - they did their own thing, they followed their own path of so called salvation - they listened to their spirit guiding them. Sure they used scrolls, handed down "scriptures", texts and so we today can do the same thing, be it using scripture or even other books.

Perhaps seek to find who you truly are and there you will find God.

Some excellent authors to read: geoff goldswane, emmet fox and the other 2 have slipped my mind.

S you said Where would you recommend? to look for God. I can only tell you where HE found me. When I was "ousted" from the JW I felt He was nowhere to be found.
Life got so out of whack.... I truly wanted to kill myself ( after all I had been taught there was no hell) It is only because a young man was walking in front of me when I was about to jump under a bus....I didnt.

It was the worse two years of my life.... If Hell is anything like I felt I dont want to go there. LOL

Then I went to Pennsylvania where there were MANY others that had been in cults. I listened to all the testimonies & silently wished I could believe in a GOD!!!! I told the One I had believed in .Jehovah !!!! I wished the real GOD would turn up.... You talk about mystic???? Well I called out the name Jesus Christ!!!!! Not swearing! but remembering all the years I had read HE was the way, truth life. So yes your right !!!!! LOOK deep into yourself & CRY OUT to The Creator!!!!!! Surely you can see all HIS beautiful things he made !!!! You asked ?I told how HE found me. No one can convince you of GOD!!!! It is a personal feeling between you & your maker.
Please only throw little stones!!!! Please dont spit!!!! I have just run out of kleenex

Satanus - thanks for the link

got carried away looking at the different symbols. Here's one from a church in Bristol, if I've understood it correctly it corresponds with the mandala symbol.

If jesus is as far as you can go, then ok.

It's because of stuff like that that i have some respect for the catholic church. Stained glass like that can be a step that gets people closer to the spiritual.

Do people that believe that god is in the creation worship nature?

That's a good question. Depends on what you mean by that. If they think God exists only in creation I would say, yea. He's found in it. Not limited to it. He exists apart from it.

I think we are made of stars which if god exists and created the heavens and the earth then god is inside of each of us. I think the only pure truth we can trust is our own experiences. I think meditation is important to stay intouch with our "inner God".

My problem with Christianity is that it is always looking for salvation from an external source. They also fill you with guilt of orginal sin. In extreme cases it fills you with superstitions like the JWS do. Just celebrate Halloween which is really about not being afraid of things which might scare you.
