TWITCH- I picked the title of the thread as a satirical humor thing - but with a serious meaning to make people think on things. Hey, I love omelettes now that you mention it ! Think I'll go crack me some more eggs ! LOL! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

Not at all - If I come across posts that are abusive or people just trying to force their line of thought I don't bother to carry on reading.

When debating a simple rule to remember is everyone has a different opinion and be respectful of that.

The point being made here by some that if you wouldn't say it to a person's face then don't say it.....how true.....I know that in IRL I would have an issue with the debating "styles" of some posters.

The good manners that we learned at our mother's knee should never be forgotten.

Some may be put off by this, but rudeness is never excusable. Believe me, I'm no delicate, shrinking violet; I can throw a powerful verbal punch. However, name-calling and other childish behavior among adults is just downright disgusting.

That having been said, what's up with the ad about Englishman's board? I was going to click on it, but someone misspelled "oppressive." That's about as off-putting as name-calling.

Hillary says that when we had a confrontation I gave as good as I got. I have only had one "confrontation" with Hillary, for lack of a better word. I have reread the thread to see if my own memory had failed me... Please point out to me where I showed any disrespect to any poster, including Hillary in that thread..

I think the thread is a perfect example of why we we need to be careful in what we say. You'll notice a poster named BBdodger on that thread. She was a newbie. We pmed back and forth a number of times. She is very young, and was going through a lot at the time. She did not stick around here long. Take a look at her post history.

OOOPs sorry everyone - I missed the quotation marks on my last post!!

    Coffee Black,

    That's mature,

Someone disagrees with you and you start name calling....real mature there HS.

I think you don't know what bankrupcy means. In most cases, a person declaring bankrupcy under law does not lose their home. It is the one asset that is protected from creditors. Forclosure is when you can no longer make the payments on your mortgage and the bank reposesses it. Maybe you can ask John Edwards to explain it...his company recently forclosed on 6 properties in Louisiana they financed.

Not sure why I'm wasting my breath here...you completely ignore my posts anyway. Maybe it's because you can't answer my points...

Oh..and if you call me dumbass too...it's ok. I've been called worse...

Coffee who is leaving for work now.

Im am glad that you posted this link, as in PM you have been maintaining the position that I made an unprovoked attack on you in this thread, something I rarely if EVER do. I am reactive not proactive in these situations. This is your first post to me in this thread. I reacted to this post as I had previously suggested that to offer opinions on a political thread while ignoring the evidence posted from professionals in the field, something that I had already done, while simultaneously demanding more evidence just proved the poster to be a 'dumbass'.

People had asked for proof of my statement that one of the major causes of foreclosures in the US mortgage market were to meet medical bills. I then posted clear evidence from the professionals, all of which were ignored in favor of one poster (who should remain nameless!!) suggesting that I was posting while drunk. An outrageous and unprovoked attack. The evidence is still posted on that thread and STILL unanswered.

Having read that thread, and I am pleased that I described such posters as 'dumbasses', you know why? Because they were. A 'dumbass' is a stupid person, or a person behaving stupidly. I stand by my comments.

I provided evidence for every statement and point of view I made, all of which were ignored in favor of unprovoked personal attacks, and the best that the 'dumbasses' could come up with is that I was drunk at the helm of my keyboard. I think you should re-read the thread in its entirety to get the context.

Now, on to another matter or two. You are obviously a sensitive person and it is plain to me that you are still smarting from an event that took place on this Board months ago. You have seen how political threads develop on this Board. They are always quite wild, not for the faint-hearted, and certainly do not suit the more sensitive spirit. On other music boards that I read, they are far worse than JWD, as truly mature people do not curtail their passions because of a newbie mandolin player who has not yet become a jazz guitarist might get upset. Why do you post on such threads?

The second point. If you were to go to a friend in 'real life' and tell them that you were upset and obviously have been for months over what a person said to you on a internet discussion forum while discussing a controversial political subject, what would they say? They would be right Coffee Black, follow their advice.

    Best regards - HS

    Flipper,

I do not think it is wrong to call a spade a spade. Yeah, I agree with you, if a liar has been proved to be a liar, call him on it. Or a hypocrite , a hypocrite ! I don't consider that name calling . I'm not talking about that type of name calling. You are twisting my words. I'm talking about abusive name calling, swearing at somebody- calling them derogatory names.

You mean we should not use the term, 'lying bastard', but just 'liar', or 'f****** hypocrite' and not just 'hypocrite'?

Sorry Buddy, you need to grow up. <- I hope that comment fits into your idea of acceptable, 'spade' like behavior.

    HS
