Throwing a big party at my place complete with a backyard bonfire, a couple of pony kegs of some good local microbrews, a case of bubbly, chips, dips, chains, whips, etc.

Sounds like fun low-key. We did that last Sunday except for the bonfire. I was hung over for 2 days! We cranked the music and danced till 2. And nobody complained in our uppity neighborhood. They are scared of Jason with the long hair and chain!

Dear Mary: I hear Gehenna (hell) is a very scary place. May I interest you in reading the book: "Twenty Three Minutes in Hell"?

    Happy New Year!

We went out last night instead , to avoid the crowds . Had an absolute blast .

Started with martini's and appetizers at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse followed by a great steak dinner ,and finished with cannoli for dessert ! Best dinner ever .

Then we went to our favorite bar and listened to a great band called Smooth Groove .After a few vodka's and OJ ....I was dancing like a fool ! The shot of tequilla @ midnight sounded like a good idea at the time ....but this morning my head was telling me otherwise ,lol.

Now my brother in law just called and I guess we will be going out after all . Maybe start here playing cards then meeting some friends for drinks later.

    hmmm...New Years Eve....

    Working...as usual.....(ie...bill collector.....until about 4pm....)

after that....I will be working as a volunteer for the First Night celebration at the local community college. First time I have gone ever..so may not get to see to much of the events...maybe get to watch the majician/comedian.... and the illusionist. (13 years they have held it and I never went... Hmmm...might be because it is a "forbidden" activity in Dubville.... despite the fact that the dubs just have their own version at home and drink booze and watch Dick Clark at midnight...hypocrites)

The organizers of First Night bragged that the midnight ball they have is as big as the one at Times Square except they raise it through the evening instead of lower it. Huge fireworks display at midnight.

Then I will try to avoid the drunks on the 4.4 miles between the college and my house. Sadly, it appears I will be spending New Years night alone...

New Years Day...at this point..looks like I am working....bet I am popular.....threatening to turn off cable when customers are watching Bowl Games (IL and MO are in the Bowl Games this year..so the locals are happy). Bet the customers pay their damn overdue bills.LOL (and yes, I work Super Bowl Sunday too...every year..huge money maker for me)

    Hope everyone gets home safe.....

that will no doubt earn me a one-way ticket to the firey Gehenna. Anyone else got sum plan??!!
Warlock sad: Sorry, doll, but you've HAD that ticket for a long time.

Ah bite me......I mean----I'll save you a seat Warlock. I remember years ago, Witnesses were actually allowed to celebrate New Year's Eve. I remember being at my aunt and uncle's house where my cousin, a bunch from their Hall, my sister and I, all put on a play for the adults. Then we watched the ball drop in Time Square and my uncle gave us cream soda in champagne glasses, along with the party hats, streamers and balloons which we thought was great. Yep, I can see how having a good time like that would piss Jehovah and Jesus off eh?

    Hey Mary,

This will be the first New Year's Eve that I'm actually going out in about 12 years! I hate to be out on NYE, I hate to be without my kids on NYE and this will be the very first! I know, I know they are grown - but I still feel like they are supposed to ring in the New Year with me

I hope all goes well, I'll be designated drive for the other 5 drunk heathens in my car so I won't be able to party until I get back home. Hopefully the hubby won't be too drunk to............... er never mind!

Anyway, have a safe, happy healthy New Year.
