Something struck me.
This order would look suspicious:
1) We have a new understanding: The Generation = the anointed. (People rejoicing: the end is near!)
2) Only a few months later: And by the way, there can be new anointed ones forever. (Anticlimax.)
This opposite order, on the other hand, would still have the same theological effect, but it is easier to swallow:
1) There can now be anointed ones forever. (People rejoicing: a new understanding! And even I am allowed to have a heavenly hope!)
2) Only a few months later: And by the way, the Generation = the anointed. (People rejoicing: the anointed ones are special! yet another proof!)
It's important to do the things in the right order. -

IMO they are laying the groundwork for getting rid of the 1914 teaching. Just like the "fractions" are laying the groundwork for getting rid of the ban on blood.
While I agree that these teachings should be done away with I cannot commend them for the way the are chosing to do so.
They are to proud and arrogant to say: "You know what folks, we've made some really grave mistakes, and we are very sorry".
Instead, they do this little tap dance and eak out "new light", in hopes that no one will notice or remember what they used to teach.
This is hypocrisy and duplicity at it's finest.
They make me sick.

Exactly. When a newspaper has run a story that turned out to contain faulty speculations presented as fact, they retract it in a later edition, often stating that they're sorry for this.
When the WTBS comes out with 'new light' (which is in fact just a retraction of old teachings or at least an adjustment, sometimes greatly affecting their members) they never say "We're sorry, but...". It's always tucked away in a QFR or a sentence in the middle of an article, with no clarification of what the 'old light' even was. In some cases the changes have been so big they should have cleared the front pages of the magazines to make it clear. Never happened and never will.

Given that 2014 is only a few years away plus the penchant of JWs for numerology, I don't doubt that there is fear among the JW elite that there will be a significant downturn when many R&F JWs start thinking "a hundred years, and still nothing".
The WTBTS will soon drop 1914 as being of any significance and by the time 2014 rolls around, the WTBTS will scold the R&F for unwarranted speculation.
The only way that the WTBTS might hang on to 1914 is if the connected 2034 date can be used for effective fear mongering. -

If the anointed can still perpetuate then the time limiting factor is now the "great crowd". By definition the GC are those who "came out" of the Great Trib. Pretty soon those who were announced as members of the GC in 1935 will all pass away...meaning they'll be resurrected just like anyone else on earth who wasn't part of that "special" group at the time.

Wow, that is a good point. But in actuality, with the abandonment of the 12 hours prophetic application to 1931-1935 there is no date for "initiating" the Great Crowd either. Thus they have already beat you to this!
Funny, before 1935 EVERYONE was of the annointed, after they were all GC/other sheep. Now what? You just pick and choose? There is no either or. Then what of all those in history? Wait a tic!!THATS WHY IN 2000 YEARS THERE ARE NOT 144,000 YET DESPITE MILLIONS OF CHRISTIANS IN THE EARLY CENTURIES!!! So then the FDS has been right all along! The reason the 144k is not sealed yet is because so many in the past were of the other sheep class and didnt know it!
NEW LIGHT - ALL FORMER CHRISTIANS ARE OF THE OTHER SHEEP. THE 144K DID NOT BEGIN THEIR SELECTION UNTIL 1914!!

The CO said that due to the continual increase being seen in the ministry we are not quite at that point yet.
what increase would that be then..
almost at the point where those leaving = those coming in.. which would mean by jw thinking that those that have served for a very small period of time will be rewarded with everlasting life...whereas those that have given up due to exhaustion having sacrificed their whole lives will be rewarded with destruction at armageddon.
seems fair
further jw thinking dictates that those that give up deserve destruction because he that endures to the end will be saved and they didn't..
except those that give up are fulfulling another bible statement that says that expectation postponed is making the heart sick
