What are these Aldi's and Trader Joe's of which you speak?

Just kidding - there are no stores like those down here.

My 15-year old grandson went fishing and caught some yellow perch.

They were so delicious; I swear I could see better after feasting on them!

I ate plenty of them before I noticed on the package that they are a product of China.

I believe the Chinese feed them human waste!

You need to check the origin of any food you get. Chinese fish have some pretty nasty stuff associated with them, and Chinese food is more common than you might suspect.

    Amen to that.

Ewww!! I always check now. Vegetables from other countries, canned stuff from who knows where!

Anything we eat from China and I put it back.

    I love Trader Joes.

Aldi I go to for the prices. Quality is iffy. Sometimes it is incredible and other times it sucks. Usually it is very good.

Factoid? Trader Joes is now owned by the company that owns Aldi.

Tilapia is supposed to be similar to redfish. Years ago when blackened redfish became all the rage and redfish became scarce restaurants (at least in Texas) started substituting tilapia instead. I like 'em both.

Nina's got a killer blackened tilapia recipe. Great with spinach tortellini.

Big Tex, how does she blacken it? I blacken just about every fish I eat.

Tilapia from CostCo: "from Indonesian lakes fed by mountain springs." I hope so.

Anyway try it (or any other fish) Vera Cruz style:

    onions

    garlic

    chopped tomatoes (lots)

    peppers

    sliced green olives

    capers

    lotsa lime juice

I serve with whole wheat baby shells to get all the juice. Polenta or orzo is good, too.

    Vera Cruz style:

That's not Vera Cruz style. That's a la Vizcaina! I usually do cod this way, my favorite fish. Pretty much a stock family recipe. It is great with fresh Florida lobster tails too.
