All the time...about what were seemed little things - organizational not doctrinal.

When they took away food service at Assemblies, and even stopped us Brits being able to buy a cup of tea. there was a lot of "negative comment" believe me...I used to criticise the illustrations in the mags, and take the mickey out of them sometimes when conducting the book study, I used to grumble about the use of English in the Lit. , and say that I would listen to my music no matter what they said ....

It was only once I had made up my mind to leave that I openly voiced differences to the doctrines..The elders still were reluctant to remove me - any pair of hands will do, even if he does not believe what he is saying...

Sure, we did it between ourselves. Mainly, my family would say, "Oh, the Society back then was unbearable." Or, "Oh, wel, don't take what the Society says to be die-hard [on the subject of education]....there is some truth to what the Soceity says, but don't go off the deep end."

But, to the rest of the world, we put up a good front that we thougth the Society was right.

    Much like a battered wife.

Especially about doctrinal matters---all the time for years. I am used to the finger pointing and whispering behind my back. But I always love when I make a comment that is true, but shakes everybody up, how some do-gooder always trys to make comment to explain away my comment, and usually gets something wrong, which of course I have to correct with the dreded follow up comment.

    let's just get it right....oompa

I got alot of flack for pointing out that holy spirit was relative to any congregation having no gross sinners, that if one elder on a committee meeting was say.. watching porn on his home computer it nullified any decision the group made because he would not have "god's holy spirit". Also for pointing out that child baptism was unscriptural due to the fact that we were supposed to follow Jesus's example and he was a grown man when he got dunked. Yeah that went over so well!
