WTS Idea of "Prophecy" – Do You Find This Ridiculous???

The WTS view is that we don't understand Bible prophecy until AFTER it is fulfilled.

A traffic signal is a prophet. It signals conditions as they are and as they soon will be. It prepares the traveller for what is ahead so that adjustments can be made. The end result is the protection of the traveller by means of forewarning them.

Ask yourself what the purpose of prophecy is if not to warn or inform in advance? What if prophecy is merely interpreted information about events long past? How does this protect, inform, forewarn or redound to the benefit of the person?

The Watchtower Society wants the role the Oracle of Delphi had in ancient Greece. That oracle made unintelligible pronoucements which were subject to many interpretations. Only after a deed was done could the "proper" interpretation be attached and the oracle acquitted of prescience.

See how much safer the one is over the other?

JW's aren't informed or protectected by Watchtower prophecy because they don't know what correct actions and times are called for at the proper time.

Example: Traffic light is yellow. Yellow=caution, change immediately follows. Action required: be alert to danger. Depending on which lane you occupy, either stop or proceed with caution.

    Compare with:

Watchtower pronouncement: 6,000 years of human existence comes to a close in 1975. How fitting it would be if Armeggeddon occurs! Action required: Drop out of school? Stay in school? Sell your home? Maintain your home. Get married? Stay celibate. Become a full-time pioneer? Build a life with a family and plan for retirement????

The answer is clear. The Faithful and Discreet Slave does NOT know what to feed the rank and file or even WHEN! What identifies the FDS properly is "Food at the PROPER TIME."

Brooklyn hasn't a clue about "time" or "proper."

JW prophecy is not prophecy. It is speculation and ill-considered false information in faulty context.

It confuses. It does not inform.

Here's a prophecy that should be easy to understand:

persons like the Martian and his ilk, who look for expectations and speculations, blunders and hot air to come to pass in their lifetime will NOT waltz across the threshold of Armageddon into Paradise, but will grow old and die here in this "system of things."

See? That's a REAL prophecy: easy to wrap your head around and easy to confirm or disprove. No mumbo-jumbo doublespeak here.

If mumbo-jumbo doublespeak is what you want, you'll have to go to the WTB&TS.

Deut. 18:20-22, the scripture that gave me the final push out of the scam, couldn't be more clear as to what a prophecy is.

Hey this isn't hard to understand at all! I'm a prophet and I can always predict last night's lottery numbers.
