He's never 'wished destruction' on the USA.

He may not be saying as much in so many words, but his actions speak loudly. He's in the process of cultivating friendships with some of the world's worst regimes in order to take a "defensive stance" against big bad Uncle Sam. If you see Uncle Sam as big and bad, then you won't see that as a problem. You usually choose your friends according to how similar their views are to yours.

BTW, Chavez made a big thing about how Venezuela, Bolivia and Curacao were going to band together and repel any American agression directed at them. While not a direct threat (if ludicrous!), it's certainly sabre rattling. Sounds like someone who wants the other guy to start something.

Sean Penn and Danny Glover are the price we pay for having the great freedom of speech. If I can publicly talk about my thoughts and ideas, so can they.

I certainly do not agree with what they are saying or their recent actions... which is why I have stopped watching their movies.

For me the situation is no more about oil than Zimbabwe is. It's about crackdown on liberty in a former democracy -Stephanus
Like in the United States? So, what is the crackdown here about?

Where are your political prisoners? Where are the streams of people trying to escape your country. Please don't try to be too ridiculous: you're comparing apples and bowling balls!

I ditched Glover when he did that woeful attempt at being Ogion the Silent in the even more woeful movie version of Ursula leGuin's Earthsea. (While we're banning stuff, the Hallmark channel might be a good place to start!) That he became a Chavez suck-up later surprised me not at all!

I'm tired of these Hollywood Lib'ruls and their damn communicating with the enemy! They need to get back home where they can be under constant surveillance of our Glorious and Magnificent Dear Leader and his Powerful Echelon of Spying Authority.

Why shouldn't he? With the US launching an illegal/pre-emptive war in Iraq and their long history of meddling in Latin American politics, seems pretty resonable to me to take a "defensive stance".

You need to learn a little of the USA's history in Central & South America. The CIA has been stirring shit up there for decades, including assasinating a democratically elected president. The US 'started something' a long time ago. And these guys saying they will repel any American agression seems far from ludicrous to me.

Its a damn shame that there isn't an area called "politics" or some such name for these kinds of threads. That'd be sweet.
