I personally like the NIV or the NASB.

The Message Bible is quite colorful and rich with word imagery.

The New Jerusalem Bible is another good alternate to contrast.

The NIV is fine, but sometimes I think they can get as biased as the NWT.

Here are some websites I use:

    Any you like.

We don't have a bible here, and sometimes use the gateway link that blondie has posted, which has arouund 30 or more versions available online. If you become a jw they will expect you to mostly use the nwt.

Most people seem to have the NIV so I use that at church and bible studies. However, I agree with Blondie that there are many times I find it very 'slanted'.

My personal favorite for research and serrmons (when I can get away with it!) is the ESV.

Downunder this is known as the Eastern Suburbs Version whilst the NIV is the Non-Ideologival Version!

Make of that what you will.

Try the New Worldly Translation.. They have Jehovah's name everywhere.

I have read the Life Application Bible also known as the Living bible. I think it is a paraphrase easy to read bible.I'm sure the King James supporters would think Satin wrote it himself. And I also read the King James. So I guess it depends on what crowd you want to hang with. If you want to go with the fundies. Read the King James. Thell tell you thats the one God told King James to write,or endorse and sponsor.

You are free to choose whatever bible you want. Nobody here will tell you it has to be only a certain translation (only the JW's will insist you use their bible).

Go to a Christian bookstore. There are always bibles on sale that you can get for not alot of money. Get different translations and see which one you like the best.
