  Professionals many times feel that since a group is allowed to practice as a religion legally in the country that they are not a cult.
  
  I would ask him to state what he feels is a good definition of a 'cult'. I think Steven Hassans second book is very good on this. He states that he never thought that JWs where a cult until somebody showed him.

Jesus once said that the true worshipers of jehovah will be hated upon many.He also said that some of the true believers will be thrown in jail and killed.So jesus already worned us that this would happen, and this is also evidence that they are in fact the true worshipers of jehovah trying to tell the world of what jehovah has sent them to do, to save everyone's life because jehovah loves all of us and he earnestly wants us to see that he knows what we want more than we know since he was the one who created us who would know better than he?

  Um...wouldn't every Christian group that has been hated, persecuted and thrown in jail for their beliefs be "true worshippers" then?

  How would you define a cult?

  And how would you trace the "lineage" of Russell's Bible Students and the current Witnesses? Since Russell started his group in the 19th century, who were the true Christians up until that time?

  If you actually read the book "The Finished Mystery" which led to the sedition charges against Rutherford and friends, you would realize that there was nothing written in that book that Jehovah would want his name associated with. It is pure bull***t. In a cult, the adherents research little on their own and repeat the party line given them by their leaders. Read "The Finished Mystery"....it will open your eyes and change your life...and not in the way you expect.

  Then maybe we, who have been persecuted by WTBS, are the TRUE believers- if we don't even fit into that segregate, then who knows???

  you're not alone!! i have been thru alot coz of that religon and yet my family are sooooo convinced its the truth that im still not sure,

  Well, I got the therapist to come around somewhat, and my spouse will be reading Hassan's book :)
  She's already made up her mind that it doesn't matter what it says, but I've gotta start somewhere...
