Throwing Good Music Away

I went to a used CD store tonight. I was like a kid in a candy store. They had a lot of the old records that I threw away because of a cult, now on CD. I got five CDs that I used to have on records. Enjoying them at present.

I got Jethro Tull, The Grateful Dead, Moody Blues, Jefferson Airplane and Counting Crows.

I decided to try to replace all the old records I threw away or as many as I can. May be a few I just don't relate to anymore.

How about you? Are you listening to music right now and what are you enjoying?

I threw out quite a few cassettes during my super spiritual phase.

I have some CDs in my car for my commute home later.

Intro to Early Music I like the chants and the polyphonic sacred music.
Rush - Snakes and Arrows My favorite rock group's latest album.

I know I have another in there but I can't remember what it is.

One time I discovered that my so-called friends stole my CD player. I had a Godsmack CD inside. I was so worried that they would snitch on me for the Godsmack that I got rid of a bunch of stuff...Korn, Limp Bizkit, Powerman5000...just lame commercial rock (well the Powerman wasn't that bad). I don't listen to any of that crap anymore. So really I wasn't throwing away good music.

I had a couple of Rush albums in my hands tonight but couldn't decide which one to get. I'll take your suggestion.

Around 1980, my dub hubby and I bought the brand new Queen album. It was "another one bites the dust" with a silver cover. Shortly after we heard it had backmasking on it, so we decided we must destroy it. But we also couldn't resist trying to play it backwards and figure out what it was saying. We couldn't hear anything, but we threw it in the fire anyway. It flamed up and burned readily, with no demonic screams at all. We were pretty disappointed.

Hey, maybe it was demonized and that's why my husband decided he was gay and left the troof 18 years later! Yeah, it all makes sense now!

During my exit, I did get great pleasure listing to "losing my religion" by REM.

And of course, Depeche Mode with,

    Your own personal Jesus
    Someone to hear your prayers
    Someone who cares
    Your own personal Jesus
    Someone to hear your prayers
    Someone who's there

    Feeling unknown
    When you're all alone
    Flesh and bone
    By the telephone
    Lift up the receiver
    I'll make you a believer

    Take second best
    Put me to the test
    Things on your chest
    That we need to confess
    I will deliver
    You know I'm a forgiver

    Reach out and touch faith

    Your own personal Jesus
    Someone to hear your prayers
    Someone who cares
    Your own personal Jesus
    Someone to hear your prayers
    Someone who's there

    Feeling unknown
    When you're all alone
    Flesh and bone
    By the telephone
    Lift up the receiver
    I'll make you a believer

    I will deliver
    You know I'm a forgiver

Reach out and touch faith (3x)

    Reach out and touch faith
    Reach out (3x)

    Reach out and touch faith

I used to love Losing My Religion even when I was a good dub. I think I always really wanted out deep inside.

Well I must have been out a little longer then you have, but yeah, that album had a big impact on me.

When the day is long and the night, the night is yours alone,
When you're sure you've had enough of this life, well hang on
Don't let yourself go, 'cause everybody cries and everybody hurts sometimes

Sometimes everything is wrong. Now it's time to sing along
When your day is night alone, (hold on, hold on)
If you feel like letting go, (hold on)
When you think you've had too much of this life, well hang on

'Cause everybody hurts. Take comfort in your friends
Everybody hurts. Don't throw your hand. Oh, no. Don't throw your hand
If you feel like you're alone, no, no, no, you are not alone

If you're on your own in this life, the days and nights are long,
When you think you've had too much of this life to hang on

    Well, everybody hurts sometimes,
Everybody cries. And everybody hurts sometimes
And everybody hurts sometimes. So, hold on, hold on
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
Everybody hurts. You are not alone

Hmmm... there's so many. Well the one that has the song that probably had the most air time "Tom Sawyer" is "Moving Pictures". There's a best of 2 CD set called "Chronicles", I think that'd be your best bet, although it doesn't have any of their newer stuff on it.

Warning: Geddy Lee's voice is intolerable to some.

I've been trying to replace the music that I lost for years now! I can't even find some of the songs because they were one hit wonders! This really makes me *&^% angry!

DJK played "Pieces of April" on the hit music II thread and I got that song stuck in my head! I just downloaded it a few hours ago and have been playing it over and over!
