Wow. Jaw-droppingly stupid. Stupid enough that part of me wants to see a scan, not because I don't believe the original poster, but because this is just SO stupid.

    Wow.

    Hey AlmostAtheist:

You can trust me. I've been a full-fledged Junior Member for over a week now.

I mainly post from work and I'm not that techno-savvy anyway. Maybe when I get a couple more posting merit badges under my belt, I'll learn how to post scans. Tee hee.

FWIW, here's a couple more verbatim quotes from the article for your reading pleasure. (Honest. I couldn't make up better stuff if I tried.) The recurring theme is: CONTROL, CONTROL, CONTROL.

    Paragraph 1 opening sentence:

"The Bible describes the Universal Sovereign, Jehovah, as being clothed with dignity. (Ps. 104:1)"

Right. So we're supposed to take the "clothed" part literally? WTF?

    Paragraph 2 excerpts:

"Have you planned your noon meals so that you can eat at the convention site with your brothers?"
"At the beginning of each session when the chairman kindly invites us to take our seats before the music starts, we should quickly end our conversations and be seated for the beginning of the program."

    QUICKLY? Yah right.That's gonna happen.

    Paragraph 3 excerpts:

".........a reporter wrote that onlookers would be impressed by "the exemplary behavior of those present, as they follow what is being said in respectful silence and with evident spiritual affinity." He also commented on "the exceptional number of children......., all strangely well behaved or even busy consulting verses in the Holy Bible."
"While the program is in session, it is not the time for needless talking, text messaging, eating..........."

OK, that's all I can stomach for now.

But what will we wear while giving a good witness by cleaning the cr*p & p*ss off the stadium bathroom floors?

They mention text messaging... damn, that's what I would've been doing all convention if I were still in. I'd probably get a blackberry just for the convention. As long as they didn't mention iPods I suppose I could make it through this years LOL.

Usually when I see a bunch of people dressed in khakis and long skirts, the only word that comes to my mind is: "FREAKS!". Great witness indeed!

Oh my yes, I've planning for months now!

On Friday, I will have 3 turkey slices with 3/4 tablespoon of mayo, 4 lettuce leaves, and rye bread with 16 caraway seeds on each slice, followed by 32 grapes and 36 Fritos! I'm working on a Powerpoint presentation for my focus group to help whittle down my choices for Saturday & Sunday...planning is so important!

Has anyone else noticed the peculiar aversion to the word "lunch"? "You are now dismissed for your noon meal"..."Please bring your noon meal with you in a small cooler"..."your noon meal should be something light so you don't fall aslepp later"...(Hah!)

It's like there are electrodes attached to their temples, prepared to give a shock if the "L" word is mentioned...maybe "lunch" has pagan origins...

In regards to "lunch" being replaced by "noon meal", one would think they would have taken care to do the opposite, since

monks restricted their dining to the period after prayers at the hour of none, nine hours after dawn. The dining hour in the monasteries moved about, depending on the hour of dawn across the year's cycle. It is from this habit of taking the meal at the ninth hour that the term "noon" is derived, and, thus, the concept of "nooning."

    while

lunch or luncheon is most often attributed to nineteenth-century Britain, the terms had long been in use in England, albeit in slightly different form. Descended from the Spanish lonja, referring to a slice of ham, as the Oxford English Dictionary notes, the term has been in use since the Middle Ages as a word for a small snack, often eaten in the fields during the workday and sometimes called nunchin. Dr. Johnson's 1755 Dictionary defines "luncheon" as "as much food as one's hand can hold." For many centuries, lunch or luncheon was precisely this: a hunk of food, a few hurried bites of sustenance, a snack.

Maybe someone should bring this to the writing departments attention.

In fact the elders and their wives are the biggest offenders of continuing to talk un the "kingdom" song ended.
