I don't have any advice as far as where to go with this 1935 thing....sorry I don't bother with that crap anymore....but you and your bookstudy bit as far as thinking you outed yourself - that was freaking awesome!

I remember doing that also. I actually couldn't raise my hand sometimes for fear of what would *slip* out in my frustration at those meetings.

I remember one time my husband answered at a meeting about the society being chosen by jesus in 1914 and his words were "....and 1914 was the year that jesus SUPPOSEDLY, I mean, that's when jesus did choose the FDS...."

I remember thinking wow! red flag here....what's going on with him???? I think your wife is taking it all in.....

Something along those lines. We've got a few almost destitute relatives who lived for 1975, then the 1914 generation and are now facing old age without two cents to rub together. Hopefully that can help touch her heart.

Your opening line was good. Barely been on the net in the last two weeks. Looks like I missed some new light about 1935. Has the seven trumpet blasts of the 1920's also been cancled?

So if a JW cannot accept a teaching, he will be disfellowshipped. But later, the FDS (GB) can change the teaching, and nothing happens to them. It's humility

What I tell my friends is this: Daniel says that interpretations originate with God. James wrote that there is in not even the variation of the turning of a shadow

with God. So if God reveals something, it NEVER changes. Therefore, any JW "light" that has ever changed, gotten brighter/dimmer, was never from God according

to their own Bible. I have never gotten a disagreement. However, no one has ever the left the Borg, either.

I had the same feelings, the same fears and the same frustrations.

I too read like a robot whose batteries were drained. My wife used to complain that if I didn't want to read I should say so. What she meant was: Get spiritual you loser - all the spiritual men read better than you.

I love your concern for outing yourself. I've been there too.

It is amazing that so many of us are or have undergone the same situations - but alone. This board gives us a place to gather and share war stories.

I admire your ability to continue on your road out of the WT.

Also, I agree that your choice of not responding to the wife was wise. They throw out that PR crap to see how we'll react. She was braced for an argument and you deflated her. Keep 'em confused.

That sounds great. Caution, though. My wife would shut down automatically on the words "Child Molestation."
Her JW mindset is not ready for such strong words. You know your wife better than others. Even if it seems
that you haven't helped her with this, if you can get some of that out there in the open, it could help, but pushing
things could trigger an intervention on her part (telling the elders you are leaning toward apostate).

Change that to "So if a JW starts to examine and question a teaching, he can be disfellowshipped. But...."
Do that and you can actually use the statement with a faithful JW.

My suggestion: Simply encourage your wife to take the "light' on prophecies with a BARREL of salt!

The truth is there- but the "light" they see with prophecy really IS the oncoming train in the tunnel!

It appears that NOONE understands what a prophecy means until AFTER it takes place.

"Egg on Face" = "'Light' on Prophecy"

The CLASSIC EOF (Egg on Face) is in the Daniel Book, where the senile brother writes that Daniel pinpointed one of our obscure assemblies somewhere in the 30s! If pointing THAT out doesn't help her- then there is NO hope at all for her!
