Since our own IP addresses appear when we post...couldnt they be tracing who posts here to see if any are members?

It's hardly worth their time, especially since they have drone elders to partrol the flock.

Our IP's aren't posted, only hashes based off our IPs.

Given the technical offerings that have come out of the organization, I'd hazard a guess that they'd have a hard time tracking someone even if they did have the raw IP.

Are you reading this right now Para? Go ahead and reply to this thread. I'll show you how easy it is to get your IP.....and other info.

There is something that I personally appreciate about this forum. I have no fear of what the WBTS is looking on. Why? The people here try their best to apply these ten tips for a better human relation. While we can not personally speak too, see ones smiles, etc., by our choice of written words we reflect what type of person we have come to be. (The responsible ones with the WBTS could take a lesson [Sorry about the constructive criticism, really]). Ten Tips for Better Human Relations 1. Speak to people. There is nothing as nice a cheerful word of greeting. 2. Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile. 3. Call people by name. The sweetest music to anyone's ears is the sound of his/her own name. 4. Be friendly and helpful. If we would have friends, be friendly. 5. Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything we do is a genuine pleasure. 6. Be genuinely interested in people. We can like almost everybody, if we try. 7. Be generous with praise. Cautious with criticism. 8, Be considerate with the feelings of others. It will be appreciated. 9, Be thoughtful of the opinions of others. There are usually three sides to a controversy -- mine, the other person's and the right one. 10. Be alert to give service. What counts most in life is what we do for others. Add to this a good sense of humor, a big dose of patience, and a dash of humility and we will be rewarded many fold. Speaking just for myself. Folks, I use to post on the OLD H2O regularly. And WBTS was there also. Looking. At this point there is something I would like to bring up about the old H20. I noticed something. The same thing I noticed with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. They had a GOVERNING BODY, a group of people, about ten. I heard it called, The Governing Body of H20. It made no difference how well you thought out your data, yes you know the ending. Again I would like to say, "I appreciate this forum". I do not after watching for quite a few years see the ugly head of an GOVERNING BODY OF JWD. That's a gooooooood testimony of the persons who post. It's also testimony that all are working to apply the ten tips for a better human relations. My thanks to the ones on the forum that are working hard to see to it that JWD will not have the OLD H20/WBTS governing body stigma. Don’t worry about whether or not the WBTS is watching. Thanks IBME

Hey! I see that Simon has fixed the little loophole that I've pointed to in the past on how to get someone's IP address. Not too long ago, someone could embed a picture into their post(like a blank, 1 pixel transparent gif file), say on a home http server, and then correlate the timestamp with the referring URL in the httpd logs. Now when you reply to a thread, any html <img> tags are stripped out of the replies. You can still see the IP's of the people who browse, but it is now much harder and requires a little more detective work to find info on a specific poster. It's still possible, but very difficult to do.

Thanks Simon for incorporating that change! It will go a long way in helping to keep the anonymity around here for those who need it.

Oh, and for those who are wondering what that little gif file looks like, it is right here between the arrows --->

You have to come to realize that just as it is the nature of the rattlesnake to bite you when you try to put him in your pocket. It is the nature of all ministers and preachers to preach "do as I say, not as I do." However long it takes one to realize that truth is how long that person will be a sheep.

Big difference between having an IP address and having proof that a certain person posted something using it.

Nope nuh-uhhh weren't me...Doesn't work with RIAA, but the Dubs are at least a bit reasonable when you explain that you use an un-encrypted wireless set-up.

What I would like to know is:

What do those JWs who monitor this site think of those JWs who come here to "defend their faith"? We know they don't have answers for many questions but new ones keep popping up and give a very poor witness.

Now that JWs sitting in Brooklyn reading what thiose apologists say, I think they would like to pull the plug on those apologists who insist on coming here. If they could figure out who they were I'm sure they would hunt them down and tell them to get off the net

The average rank and file would not be disturbed that they spy on the evil enemies they have.
I could imagine all of the GB have read Ray Franz, possibly Randy Watters, and others. The
average r&f could always be told that they keep an eye on Kingdom Interests this way, if they
    were discovered.

Actually, I hope they continue to monitor apostate websites. How many of them will become
AWOKE from such monitoring? We'll probably never know, but some will.
