    Sad...but very very true...

    Still Gonna Die:

So you're takin' better care of your body
Becoming more aware of your body.
    Responding to your body's needs.
Everything you hear and read about diets,
Nutrition and sleeping position and detoxifying your system,
And buying machines that they advertise to help you exercise.
Herbs to revitalize you if you're traumatized.
    Soaps that will sanitize.
    Sprays to deordorize.
Liquid to neutralize acids and pesticides.
Free weights to maximize your strength and muscle size.
    Shots that will immunize.
    Pills to re-energize you.

But remember that for all your pain and gain
Eventually the story ends the same...
You can quite smokin', but you're still gonna die.
Cut out cokin', but you're still gonna die.
    Eliminate everything fatty or fried,
And you get real healthy, but you're still gonna die.
Stop drinkin' booze, you're still gonna die.
Stay away from cooze, you're still gonna die.
You can cut out coffee and never get high,
But you're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.

You're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
You can even give aerobics one more try,
But when the music stops playin', you're still gonna die.
Put seat belts in your car, you're still gonna die.
Cut nicotine tar, you're still gonna die.
You can exercise that cellulite off your thigh.
Get slimmer and trimmer, but you're still gonna die.
Stop gettin' a tan, you're still gonna die.
You can search for UFO's up in the sky
They might fly you to Mars where you're still gonna die.

You're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
And all the Reeboks and Nikes and Adidas you buy
You can jog up to heaven and you're still gonna die.

Drink ginseng tonics, you're still gonna die.
Try high colonics, you're still gonna die.
You can have yourself frozen and suspended in time,
But when they do thaw you out, you're still gonna die.
You can have safe sex, you're still gonna die.
You can switch to Crest, you're still gonna die.
You can get rid of stress, get a lot of rest,
Get an AIDS test, enroll in EST,
Move out west where it's sunny and dry
And you'll live to be a hundred
    But you're still gonna die.

You're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
Still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.
So you'd better have some fun
    'Fore you say bye-bye,
'Cause you're still gonna, still gonna, still gonna die.

The religious can deny the biological reality of death until they are blue in the face. It does not matter. It is nothing more than fear of human mortality.

At the end of the day, we are all going to the same place: 6 feet under.

We really have two choices. We can obsess over the inevitable and waste our time and energy trying to dream up fictional fantasy worlds that await us after this life.....

or we can live with courage, dignity and bravery, accepting that THIS is what we get and that each second should be utilized to its maximum potential, trying to leave a

    legacy behind us. Kid A

...we can live with courage, dignity and bravery, accepting that THIS is what we get and that each second should be utilized to its maximum potential, trying to leave a legacy behind us.

Why? Why is trying to leave a legacy behind us any less futile than occupying ourselves with pondering an afterlife? Surely all we are doing is transferring our efforts to an unknown [and likely ungrateful] generation, rather than to another [potential] cycle of our own existance? Is it truly any more altruistic when we are defining ourselves by our genetic heritage? Why is this deemed any more noble?

It is when we openly ask such questions that we realise that there is more to life than just science, and that philosophy has a justifiable place in human affections.

    Death ... well

I've been strangulated once (to the point to not feel anything) and thrown in the hole of the stairs from the second floor head first (it went so quick in the sec I was in the air) ... since then every day of life is already a bonus ... Lucky me.

I truly don't know what I should fear about death (the one we know about) whatever will or won't happen after. Though I'm a believer so I feel quiet confortable with death (the fear is more about how painfull it would be for me before to die and the sad part is more about the baby - which is a man now I will leave alone on here - but he is big enough).

Kid A, you can express your ideas without being provocative. This is a topic, no one knows the answers to, including yourself. Everything written here is just throwing ideas around for the hell of it. How do you know, that right now, you arn't dead, and when you shed that body of yours is when you truly become alive. Do you remember what it was like before you were born? No you don't. You define life in the context of your surroundings, which leaves very little room for the enjoyment of philisophical conversation.

Have you not considered paranormal phenomenon and dimensions existing within our dimension. What makes you think this is it? Until science further defines our existence and actually weighs the soul quantitively you have jumped to very early and easy conclusions. Do you actually think that just because you can't see something it can't be studied? You want proof but the science has not been completed yet. Just little over a century ago you couldn't convince anyone of the existence of germs and the link to cleanliness and health. Now it's a worldwide fact. Such attitudes close the doors to a further understanding of the world, or dimension we inhabit.
