Is there a DF cut off point

    There is no cut off. But....the Flock book says that if the person no longer feels "accountable" to the congregation and has been gone for an unspecified long time, then the elders can choose to hold the matter in abeyance. By accountable, they mean attending meetings, confessing to a publisher or the elders. One exception to this is if you have associates in the congregation. Then you are perceived as a threat and they WILL go after you.

    Unfortunately, no. There are people who have been able to successfully 'fade' but many find themselves on edge a lot, wondering if anybody is going to turn them in (it only takes two people with a bee in their bonnet to ruin everything for you). Others don't even think about it any more; a lot comes down to how much you let it get to you.
