I agree with BB, too, but if you're an anxious type it may be difficult for you to say such to the S.O. However, to me anxiety and depression can go together so you have legitimate grounds for asking to be removed for a time because of depression. This isn't a lie. I would never lie (I don't want to be like them!).
Usually, such a request is accepted. Later, if you're still a JW, when you are asked if you'd like to go back on the school you can always reply you aren't yet ready. You can stretch it out for as long as you like!
