A Bible study in progress was dumped on me by a brother that was uncomfortable with his strange personality... He was about 35 and had been married twice, both times to women in their fifties. He was a very strange dude. He was too good to be true in the home Bible study, he agreed with everything and never missed a meeting. When you were talking to him at the hall his eye were constantly darting around. It began to dawn on us that he had an eye for the virginal, pretty sisters at the hall. He seemed to be dyeing his hair black and he wore an overwhelming cologne. He was one of the creepiest guys I'd ever been around and once I was on to his game I put the word out in the cong. and he eventually went away. I guess my judgement cost him the chance for everlasting life, not to mention some young puss.

Whether you realize it or not ,we all have some sorts of ecentricities. Some are more noticalbe or dominant than others.

I have never mocked any person in my life, I feel it is totally unfair. I was in cong. where their were some who were strange, but that is what made them unique. You'd be suprised by what you can learn from mentally chanllanged persons. At first when I met my ex husband I knew he was different but that was one thing that drew me to him. But after serveral years of marriage I came to understand that he was not all together ..He would give talks in the Kingdom Hall and because of his strange and bizarre ways I couldn't ever sit listening to any talk he ever gave as he always made flipped remarks and body gestures that were very embarrassing. The elders always knew why I left the hall when he spoke because I couldn't help it I knew people would laugh at him behind his back, and most of the time he deserved stern counselling. I am not sure if he did it to get attention or if he was just plain strange.

One day I recieved a telephone call from a sister in our cong. and she said to me Terry, "do you realize that your husband puts you down all the time to all of us sisters?". I knew he was mean but when that sister told me that It made me sick inside out. All the congregations we were in for the 27 years we were married his behaviour was getting worse. And I was falling apart from extreme depression. I was diagnosed with bi-polar making my own well being a deep concern.

The elders spoke with him over and over again and again years in and out and still he continued to piss and annoy everyone in the kingdom hall. He tried to suck up to speakers and you should have seen how he acted when the CO visited. And when the DO who we knew and had cong. visits with him, they knew what he was up to. He was so transparent. We were never invited to fellow witnesses homes because of his overbearing loud concieted ways. I am not saying that I didn't have different ways of doing things but I never made an ass of myself.

One time a sister in our hall was a marijuana smoker, she didn't mind telling everyone and anyway you could smell it on her clothing. This was in the early seventies. She would take it for pain, and she didn't give a hoot what the brothers told her, she just said to them mind your own buisness . One day she brought to me three new Jamican dresses very colourfull. She hadn't seen me wear one of them to the meetings so she asked me why I am not wearing them I said I do but in my home I wear them. Well she abruptly said she wanted them back. I was flabbergasted. I returned them to her.

Another brother was a garbage collector in Montreal, one couldn't stand anywhere near him as he smelled like a garbage truck, his clothes were so smelly. He was an older bro. and didn 't have a wife so I guess without some one to care for him he just didn't seem to be aware of his foul odour.

We had this one fellow who was schziphrenic and he was sometimes very strange, At the Kingdom Hall, He would burst into laughter, he would heckle at the speakers, one time his behaviour was very disruptive and as a result the elders asked my ex husband to escort him out of the Kingdom Hall. A few days later the police came to our door and my ex wasn't home, I invited the officer in and asked him what it was all about. So the officer asked me if I knew so and so and isaid yes I do , well the officer continued and said that your husband is being charged for assult on this fellow. I said well all I can say is I will have my huband call you when he comes home. So when he got in I told him the police were here to arrest you for assaulting so and so. He said I never assaulted him, all I did was lead him out of the Kingdom hall and that was all. Oh yeh before my husband got home that evening I called the overseer and told him that the police were at our home to arrest John.

Overseer said, "don't worry Terry I will handle it." Next day John had to go to the police station to answer to the charges. Then when he arrived home. The overseer called and told my ex not to say a word to anyone and that Brother Glenn Howe is coming to Montreal to handle this case. Well if any of you know Glenn we can he an extremely abrupt man. In fact sometimes rude.

He met with my ex and asked what happened and John being wierd as always Bro. Howe told him to shut up. And when they went to court Bro.Howe told John don't open your mouth what so ever, I will do all the talking. Of course this fellow who claimed he was assulted didn't even show up for the court hearing and the case was thrown out of court.

    And so the saga contiunes...........

It's difficult for me to look at anybody being nutty or otherwise. I see them as Delicate Souls needing acceptance and love like most others.

I forgot to tell you about a German sister in the Inwood N.Y. Congo.I studied with her son. There was this big oil painting of her father in an SS uniform from the war in her house. What made her so nuts is she would take her field service slip and walk it around the KH and show the elders and the Bethelites her report....she would say "So Brother Casarona you see I got 29 hours 15 back calls 75 mags...."

What could be more fun then people "earning" their way into the new system...and telling others about it?

Ederly sister, sister B..She would speak out in the meeting

in agreement with the speaker."You are right brother, that,s

what the bible say," "That,s true, you are speaking the truth".

Her best line, speak on Brother speak on. It was so funny when

we have A new visiting speaker, the poor brother would lose

his train of thought. And yes she was A elderly Black sister.

The meetings were never dull when sister B was there.

When you consider the fact that JWS are going door to door and outwardly talking about the soon to come Armageddon directly to the general public.

Its not hard to understand how they would attract people who aren't mentally stable, including people suffering from

paranoid schizophrenia and other mental disorders.

There was one lady that showed up at the Hall one day, who was known in the community to be bat nuts, don't know what was wrong with her

maybe she was PS, but in any case she was known to chase children and hit them with her umbrella which she carried with her all the time.

I can still remember her sitting in the Hall one Sunday morning, cautiously avoiding any eye contact with her.

She was nicked named Crazy Hazel
