This is a lunacy that goes back to good ol' Rutherford:

    (Watchtower, 15 February 1939, p. 60)

I am struck by this sentence: "The physical facts show that the first angel began to sound his trumpet in A.D. 1922."

This employs their usual formula of introducing BS: "The physical facts show <insert invisible event>". Here are more examples:

"Bible chronology and physical facts indicate that God’s long-prayed-for Kingdom is at hand" (22 June 1987 Awake!, p. 10).
"The physical facts show that the gathering back of Zion began in 1919." (1 February 1983 Watchtower, p. 31)
"Chronology and physical facts in fulfillment of Bible prophecy show that this cleansing work has been performed since shortly after the establishment of God’s kingdom in 1914. Just as Jehovah had cleansed his people in the past, it was necessary progressively to cleanse the modern people that carry his name" (15 February 1976 Watchtower, p. 122).
"We today are living in the time when "that which is complete" is due to arrive. The physical facts in fulfillment of Bible prophecy confirm that Jesus Christ received kingly authority over the world of mankind in 1914 C.E." (1 February 1975 Watchtower, p. 96).
"The prophecies of the Bible, coupled with the physical facts in fulfillment, provide the answer. In 1918, Jesus the Messianic Messenger accompanied Jehovah to the spiritual temple, suddenly and unexpectedly, to begin judgment on God’s people" (15 March 1971 Watchtower, p. 173).
"In our century, as the physical facts compared with Bible prophecies verify, Satan and his demons have been cast out of the heavenly realm down to the vicinity of the earth" (1 September 1967 Watchtower, p. 518).

"Here the condition of both the 'rich man' or the clergy class and that of the 'Lazarus' group, the anointed remnant, takes place at the same time, namely, from 1919 to the present. The physical facts abundantly show that since 1919 the anointed witnesses of Jehovah have enjoyed spiritual prosperity as to their ministry while during the same time the clergy have been experiencing increased frustrations and spiritual failures as to their ministries" (15 September 1966 Watchtower, p. 561).

This teaching is the most embarrassing teaching (in my opinion) that JWs have. And that's saying something! I think even the most die-hard JW has a problem swallowing that one. But, the blasts are supposed to take place right after Jesus begins to rule, so they had to come up with something or the whole thing falls apart. Not that the whole "invisible ruling - 1914" teaching makes much sense to begin with.

I remember studying that very lesson in the revelation book when I was fading. I couldn't believe what utter crap statements like that were. It might even be in one of my earlier posts.

I was reading through Revelation chapters 8 and 9 during the Highlights at the meeting tonight. I just find it ridiculous that they can apply such major prophecies to some small Conventions.

For example, the prophecy about the 5th trumpet reads:

    Revelation 9:1-21
1 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet. And I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and the key of the pit of the abyss was given him. 2 And he opened the pit of the abyss, and smoke ascended out of the pit as the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun was darkened, also the air, by the smoke of the pit. 3 And out of the smoke locusts came forth upon the earth; and authority was given them, the same authority as the scorpions of the earth have. 4 And they were told to harm no vegetation of the earth nor any green thing nor any tree, but only those men who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
5 And it was granted the [locusts], not to kill them, but that these should be tormented five months, and the torment upon them was as torment by a scorpion when it strikes a man. 6 And in those days the men will seek death but will by no means find it, and they will desire to die but death keeps fleeing from them.
7 And the likenesses of the locusts resembled horses prepared for battle; and upon their heads [were] what seemed to be crowns like gold, and their faces [were] as men’s faces, 8 but they had hair as women’s hair. And their teeth were as those of lions; 9 and they had breastplates like iron breastplates. And the sound of their wings [was] as the sound of chariots of many horses running into battle. 10 Also, they have tails and stings like scorpions; and in their tails is their authority to hurt the men five months. 11 They have over them a king, the angel of the abyss. In Hebrew his name is A·bad´don, but in Greek he has the name A·pol´lyon.

All those 11 verses, applies to:

    5. 1926 London, England: A locustlike plaguing of Christendom and its clergy, exposing their rejection of God's Kingdom, and hailing the birth of that heavenly government.

It's hard to believe they can even try to teach this. That's not even funny, it's just embarrassing.

Oh, and the trumpet blasts were invisible and inaudible at the time they happened, they were only discernable to that one hooked up to the topical thought transference line by means of the magic headphones and properly relaxed by means of a spirit of a different kind and softened by the sound of the San Diego surf.

It is sickening the WTS teach this stuff about the 7 trumpets to this day. They are very keen in linking dates of conventions with scripture. Rutherford started all that. It is absurd that the date of a convention was foretold in the bible. That is sheer lunacy right up there with Micheal Drosnin's book the Bible Code

The core of WTS doctrines are based on the dates of conventions. This alone convicts the WTS of being a false prophet of the highest degree.

Hey JW lurkers: you guys are not Jehoovers witnesses - you are Rutherford's witnesses

As far as Rutherford was concerned, even failing to give a convention talk fulfilled Bible prophecy:

    Text:

    *** g24 12/3 p. 151 A Remarkable Fulfilment of Prophecy ***

"And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth until Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain."-- Zechariah 14.17.

On May 6th the Spanish Government refused permission to Judge Rutherford to speak in Madrid in support of his belief, and our belief, that we have come to the time of the establishment of the Lord's kingdom in the earth -- an event described in the Revelation of St. John as "the new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven".

Now whether or not others can see in it what we see in it, nevertheless a most unusual item of information comes to us in a report from our correspondent in Switzerland. The gentleman in question knew of the Spanish Government's action in refusing permission to have the truth regarding the Lord's kingdom presented to the Spanish people, and in a report to us dated August 23rd says:

"We herewith beg to enclose a copy of the Zurichsee Zeitung of August 21 in which you will find a report, marked in blue pencil, that while the whole of Central Europe is complaining about a miserable summer, no rain has fallen in Madrid, the capital of Spain, since May 6. As this was the date upon which Judge Rutherford was refused permission to lecture in that city, we feel that the matter will be of interest to you. May we assume that there is a connection between the two things?"

Is a trumpet blast negated if it turns out to be "old light?"

If the conventions have the same program seven times over, how unimaginative are the organizers?
