Ditto for what much of Jim just said and in addition, don't forget the monorail. I know a lot of people complain about the price but I still like it. I like the heat so summer is never a problem for a visit plus the casino's seem to keep their a/c at 65 so it's always cool in there anyway and for those that haven't been and don't realize it - there are casino/hotels that have walkways between them so you aren't outside every time you go into a different one. A lot of fun! A lot of walking! sammieswife.

Okay I know alot were saying Aug/Sept but we may have to chose another month.
This is what the weather is like year round : http://www.cityrating.com/cityweather.asp?city=Las+Vegas
Sept is cutting it close for those with kids and college students. August is hot as h*ll! What about June?

Are people planning on bringing their kids or leaving them at home? If they are staying home, this may not be an issue.
The college crowd - have they chimed in yet? It may not be that big of a concern to them.

I think it also needs to be decided - up front - if the purpose of the trip is to gamble or to sight-see. Las Vegas is turning into a tourist-town, with a lot of attractions.
There is more than gambling and shows. Lots more.
There is New York New York - which is a New York themed casino/hotel - with an outdoor roller coaster (which we wanted to ride - but didn't get the chance). Also, many things inside to look at and see - with a New York 'flavor'.
There is the Luxor - which is Egyptian-themed. They have a Tuts tomb musuem - which is a replica of how it looked when it was discovered in 1922. Also, they have a 3-D ride that is awesome and out of this world!
The Aladdin - is a huge in-door mall with lots of shopping and sights to see - also nightly shows. We got to see V - which is a 2-hour variety show.
Madam Tousaud's Wax Musuem - a must see! They have an interactive wax musuem with figures of many many famous movie stars and other prominent people. Plus - be sure to tour the 'haunted house' portion of it.
Be sure to sign up and get the ' Las Vegas Power Pass' - it may look pricey, but it will get you into shows and sights at a discount - or free.
Water. Buy a six-pack of bottled water, and always carry one with you while walking.
They have a bus that runs up and down the strip called the Deuce. It costs $5.00 for a 24-hour pass - which is worth it - for unlimited riding up and down the strip.
Of course - if your goal is to just go and gamble - there's plenty of that too... slot machines abound.

Hey Jim, wasn't the V show (V for Variety) at the Aladdin great? You need to check out the buffet at the Aladdin. It is totally awesome!

Are you - Interested in an airplane/hotel combo?
Yes.Do you want to be on the strip or off (like downtown)?
Definately on.Who wouldn't mind sharing a room (same sex only or opposite sex fine)?
Wouldn't mind sharing with a friend.Seeing shows?
Maybe.Do you want to get a night club pass?
Maybe.Doing any of the tours they may offer?
Yes.Getting personal transportation?
Yes. Monorail is great, but having a car was nice, too.How much do you want to spend on your room?
Since it's next year, it really doesn't matter that much. I don't know---$200 tops? And do you have a hotel preference?
The Venetian, Mandalay Bay, Bellagio, Paris Paris. So.... INCLUDE IN YOUR POST WHAT MONTH IS GOOD AND IF IT'S EARLY, MID, OR LATE PART OF THAT MONTH.Anytime but the late part due to kids' school.

Airline combo: Yes for a friend from Corpus Christi TX (I'll be driving myself) Hotel Location: On the Strip Shows and Tours: No preference. Night Club pass: Possibly I'll be sharing a room w/ a friend. I'm interested in going Wednesday thru sunday.

OK guys, I just checked with Costco Travel. For a group of 20 (10 rooms), flying out of and returning to the same airport (in our case Dulles International, which should also work for anyone from Europe or east coast), the absolute cheapest time, according to the agent, is first two weeks in December. $594 pp for round trip airfare (Dulles) AND five nights at Aladdin. Rental car is extra, but if you plan on staying on the strip, probably won't need one. Other times are a little higher. The Aladdin will be a little higher next year as they are currently remodeling to be a Planet Hollywood. The remodeling is also the reason for a lower price now. Although we were there in July and the remodeling activities were hardly noticed by us. Just thought I'd start throwing some numbers out there. The rooms and amenities at Aladdin were wonderful.
BTW, the single fare wasn't that much more expensive than the group fare, about $608 pp. That's round trip airfare AND five nights at one of the best hotels on the strip. The first two weeks in December are definitely the cheapest rates. This would probably be a bit less if you're traveling from closer. Of course our good friends from across the pond would need to add roundtrip air to Dulles (or wherever). Can't get airfare rates more than 11 months out.

I would prefer late August. Late August, the heat is starting to dwindle down, not a lot, but its not like we will be outside except at night probably for the water show and every place in Las Vegas is air conditioned. I don't mind sharing a room. I will need air transportation, but I am familiar with the area, I used to live there.

There is not a "best time" for Vegas. It's is always busy. However, I prefer the summer. Yes, it is oppressively hot, but the lack of humidity makes it more bearable. Three days is best. After two days the constant racket of the casinos gets to me . Doing a Saturday thru Monday stay might be more cost effective, however a lot of shows are dark on Sundays. The upside is that travel would be on lower traffic days. Just some ideas.
Are you - Interested in an airplane/hotel combo? No. I live within driving distance of Vegas.
Do you want to be on the strip or off (like downtown)? No preference. However, off strip is less expensive, and there are some quality hotels. I have stayed at The Orleans, and the rooms were spacious, clean and fresh.
Who wouldn't mind sharing a room (same sex only or opposite sex fine)? Will be attending with the misses.
Seeing shows? Depends on the show.
Do you want to get a night club pass? Depends
Doing any of the tours they may offer? Yes.
Getting personal transportation? No need. Driving already.
