Okay we've done alot of posting and it seems to appear that are alot of interested people are willing to meet up and hang out in Vegas.

So, lets get down to business! We need a date! I want as many to come as possible. I was thinking Aug/Sept but if you have kids that might not be the an optimal time. I'm also trying to keep those who are in college in mind.

I've contacted a travel agent (by email) on the Vegas.com site. They help plan for groups of 20 or more. I'm currently waiting on a reply, but will be calling on Tuesday (day off work) if I'm not contacted by then. Here are some of the things I need to know from you besides a head count.

Are you - Interested in an airplane/hotel combo? Do you want to be on the strip or off (like downtown)? Who wouldn't mind sharing a room (same sex only or opposite sex fine)? Seeing shows? Do you want to get a night club pass? Doing any of the tours they may offer? Getting personal transportation?

If we go through a travel agent, then we should be able to do some sort of payment plan. Like a 25% deposit ( something like that) down and pay as you go, up to a month before the trip.

How much do you want to spend on your room? And do you have a hotel preference? I would think we would all be staying in the same hotel that way we get a group discount. So we need to figure that out.

So.... INCLUDE IN YOUR POST WHAT MONTH IS GOOD AND IF IT'S EARLY, MID, OR LATE PART OF THAT MONTH. We have got to get this settled. We have enough time to be reasonable and make sure all who want to go can come!

After I've got all your info and have conferred with the Travel agent (TA), I'll post all info ( or emal it to your personally) so you can get in contact with the TA.

Editted to say I've let it be known to the TA that some from Canada and overseas might come, so I'm hoping for a deal your you guys too!

Would this be a weekend thing or are we talking something longer??

I'll make my plans around whatever date is set.

Since it only takes me a few hours to drive there, I would not need air transport.

I would prefer to keep expenses low so would like to share a room. (I *might* bring my own friend, though)

Definitely interested in seeing a show.

The month is irrelevant to me - although I don't like when it's too, too hot.

On or off the strip? - Up to the group. I don't know enough to answer this question. There are some amazing hotels on the strip and if we could get affordable rates, I'd opt for there.

    I forget the other questions...

Personally I was thinking weekend... Like a Thurs - Mon. I need only 3 days, but some might want more. I'm hoping the TA can set individual preference (ie 3 vs 5 days, show, no show, nightclub passes) for the individual. But that we would all hang out at least 1 or 2 of the days we plan to stay there.

I mainly want to get air/hotels and date info confirmed. And a sense of what everyone is interested in doing so I can rely to the TA and she will know what to offer us and what we can get a good deals for group activities.

Oh yeah I prefer a hotel in the middle of the strip. IF possible at least 3.5 stars hotel (w/casino).

Check out Vegas.com for what each star includes (under hotels)

I definitely want to come; and I'm flexible.

Airline combo: No, I won't need it.

Hotel on the strip or off the strip: No preference.

    Shows and Tours: No preference.

    Night Club pass: Yes

Do not wish to share a room

    Any month will work

Definitely can't do 2007 as already planning to go to the Apostafest in Norway in July if I can save up in time!

Having just been to Vegas, I may have a little input on this topic...

    1) August/September - very hot months. I was there Sept 3 - 7, and there were temps of 100+ degrees (Fahrenheit).

    2) Take comfortable walking shoes. And wear them. Anywhere you go - on the strip - requires walking. Even if you just take transport (I.E. taxi) to the front door of your favorite casino/bar, you will then need to walk a great distance to get inside.

    3) Take lots of 'gratuity cash'. Everyone there has their hand out.

    4) Try to find a Hotel off the strip. All hotels/casinos on the strip are getting pricey - catering to the tourist crowd.

    5) If you get a travel deal... avoid one named ShowTime. They organize lots of tours, and offer transportation to/from the airport. They need to be renamed 'NoShowTime'. They are pretty good about getting you from the airport - but slow getting you back to the airport. (Can we all say 'miss your flight'?)

If there are any other things you would like to know about Vegas - you can ask me... if I know, I'll try to tell ya. I stayed at the Stardust - which will be brought down in a few months - to be rebuilt bigger. Everything in Vegas is being built HUGE!

Oh. While there, be sure to take advantage of the Deuce bus that runs along the strip. It'll save you lots of walking. Vegas is deceiving... everything looks real close - certainly within walking distance - until you try to 'hoof it'... then you realize that the scale of things throws off your perception of distance.

    Good Luck,

    Jim TX

My wife and I were just there in July. (117 degrees) It was hot, but very low humidity, so not as bad as you would think. We got a special deal through Costco, including airfare and hotel at the Aladdin. It was quite reasonable. You might want to also check with Costco travel to see what kind of group rates you could get. The Aladdin was absolutely fabulous. They have been voted two years straight as having the best buffet on the strip. We only tried one of the others because, the Aladdin's was just incredibly good. We ate like kings! As to shows, the Aladdin has a show called the Fab Four, which is a Beatles tribute show taking you through all the stages of the Beatles, early days, Sergeant Pepper, and Abbey Road. The performers are actually playing the instruments and doing all the singing and it will knock your socks off. We also saw Circ de Soleil's Mystere. We got the best seats and the tickets were $95. I said (before the show) there's no way 90 minutes of entertainment could possibly be worth $95. When we were walking out, I felt like I would have easily paid $200 to see that show. Incredible! Well, we would definitely be interested in going again, and would certainly support any group arrangements, but would also want to comparison shop. By the way, we didn't gamble (other than $10 at the slot machine) but had an unbelievably great time!

BTW I agree with Jim that there can be a lot of walking if you want to explore beyond your hotel (which is like a city within itself) but we did not have to do much tipping, just the regular tips at the restaurants and we left something for the maid every day, but nothing beyond that.
