    David...I might just.

It would be great if you can make it! You can also do the 1 mile walk if you want!

anyone that runs in the Texas heat is pure sadist!

lol... no kidding! I've been training in 100F + temperatures in the evening to get ready for the race. I have found it has greatly improved my endurance for when I run in cooler temperatures. I just have to be careful that I don't overheat... I make sure I drink plenty of cool water and also pour the water over myself when I notice I'm getting too hot.

I'd like to run my first 5k race this year. Lori and I are running up to an hour or so together, and on her own she's run close to two hours at times this summer.

Would like to get my time to where I won't embarrass myself too badly

Hell, if you can run for an hour then you are more than ready for a 5k! I suspect my 5k time will be about 40 minutes. The more experienced runners will do it in 20 or 30 minutes.

I'm not certain I'll be able to run the entire 5k... odds are I'll have to walk at list a short distance. I'll be happy to know I finished the race.

Maybe you can meet some girls.

You don't seriously think I'm doing this just for my health do you?

    Hot damn! Now that's motivation!

Way to go! I will always remember my first 5K. Loved it!

You'll run faster than you think. The race atmosphere and adrenaline always take a first time racer by surprise.

The more experienced runners will do it in 20 or 30 minutes.

The winner will most likely come in around 15 minutes.

Have fun and let us know how it goes!

I knew you liked running and was hoping you would chime in!
