    *** g76 4/22 "Ham" Radio—A Hobby That Can Help Others ***

Among the many "ham" radio networks world wide, there are now nearly 600 Jehovah’s Witnesses in over 30 countries and islands who regularly rendezvous to talk, exchange experiences and relay messages to other countries. The accompanying chart shows scheduled times and frequencies most often used by this "JW rendezvous" group.

Thus, when used in a balanced way so that it does not interfere with other obligations, amateur radio can indeed be a rewarding hobby that brings both pleasure and knowledge. Furthermore, it can be a real source of help in emergencies and to those who wish to talk with loved ones in faraway places.—Contributed.

    G'day honesty,

    Is this a current list?

The Australian Branch Overseer, Don McLean, was a ham radio buff with a JW network. He had a big ham aerial erected at Sydney Bethel. I know it was still operational in 2002 but I was recently told it had been replaced by text messaging but perhaps old habits die hard.

I'm so sorry about your grandma Morty.

I'm planning on going to see Kenny Wayne Shepherd tonight. Its outdoors though and it has been raining steady. I won't stand in the rain to see someone I've seen before. Then I am going to get a good nights sleep because I turn 44 tomorrow. A few years back I had this crazy idea to go for a long bicycle ride on my birthday (I'm talking up to 100 miles) and the tradition continues. I don't think I'll make 100 miles as it has been too hot to do a lot of training rides in the last few weeks. The minimum will be 44 miles though. I'll have to see how I'm feeling as the ride progresses. If I don't have a massive heart attack during the ride, tomorrow evening I'll have cake and ice cream with some friends and then we are off to a stripper bar for boobs and beer. Good thing I have Tuesday off. This making up for uncelebrated birthdays during my youth takes a toll.
