MOSCOW, Tenn (USA). Three women and one young girl killed when a train collided with their car were Jehovah's Witnesses who were canvassing the area to educate others about their faith. Fifty-six-year-old Annie Johnson of Somerville, 54-year-old Rosa Jones of Somerville and 11-year-old Velencia White of Memphis were killed in the Friday crash in southern Fayette County. The driver of the vehicle, 19-year-old Phyllis Barbee of Somerville remained in critical condition yesterday at the Regional Medical Center at Memphis. Johnson's husband, Tommie Johnson, told The Commercial Appeal his wife and Jones, who were sisters-in-law had been full-time Jehovah's Witness ministers for more than 30 years. Barbee became a full-time minister last year. Velencia was the Johnsons' granddaughter and was visiting for the summer. Authorities say they still don't know why the car was on the railroad tracks when the train came through. They say all four victims were wearing their seat belts. http://www.waff.com/Global/category.asp?C=56509&nav=menu62_11_3 send a news tip

So, was the car just sitting there in the middle of the tracks?

    tragic thing to happen

sooo many people coulda have been hurt/killed if it was a passenger train, wonder what on earth possessed em to be on a train track in the first place.

The intersection at Liberty Road does not contain crossing arms, warning bells or flashing lights, but it does have a stop sign and an X-shaped cross bucks sign.

"There was no lights or gate or anything at the intersection, and she just pulled right in front of the train. Still, we don't know why," said highway patrol senior dispatcher, Bill Dunn. "It was a level crossing with no grade or anything like that."

Dunn said he could not recall any other major crash at that intersection.

How sad. There was a woman in our congregation whose husband was killed in service. I always thought it was an urban legend.

Sorry to be a jerk, but what happened to "trust in Jehovah, and he will provide"???

These people were in service to the almighty

Tragedy is always sad regardless of who it is. I might have issues with the WTS but the individuals are just as manipulated as I was.

    Sorry to be a jerk,
    You said it, not me

I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all. (Eccl. 9:11)

How terrible for the family and friends!
