Scent of a Woman:
After Colonel Frank Slade is leaving the Thanksgiving dinner of his brother and family. Having made a spectacle and being derided by one of his nephews. His statement to his brother upon leaving;
" I'm no fucking good, and I never have been "
During his seeking out of final pleasures, his partner and guide suggest that they go for a ride. Colonel Slade is blind but has a love for not only women, but fine motor cars as well. He's taken for a ride in a Ferrari, driven by Chris O'Donnell, who plays his guide. Frank Slade, who Al Pacino plays, convinces his guide to allow him to drive the Ferrari.
Although being blind, he takes him down back streets of New York City, that are free of traffic or people. To see him get a feel for something he so desires is hilarious as well as touchingly brutal in the same space. I laugh and cry all at the same time like clockwork.
Chris O'Donnell does everything in his power to prevent him from wanting to execute his plans of committing suicide.
An excellent movie for guys and dolls, and particularly good for father and son sharing.
