That really was a beautiful and touching way to express what I think more than a few of us have experienced, alamb. Thank you for putting words to it.

    And I too experienced this:

I was moved to tears when anyone "wordly" showed kindness or empathy to me. I also was touched by normal displays of love and affection. I would tear up when having conversations with people. I felt open to the world in a newborn sort of way.

Thank you again, it's just a thought that has been bubbling under my surface for awhile and it found words.

I think that is what unites us and brings some of us here; the bridge we have to cross to the other side. I look back and see some hesitating to get on the bridge and I look ahead to see who made it and what's out there. It's all in the journey they say. What a trip!

Infamous one...how about a poem? I haven't heard one from you in awhile.

    happiness eludes,
    runs,
    scoffs and laughs.
she looks me in the eye,
    a smile pursing her lips.
    she steps closer,
    takes hold of my hand,
    all the while smiling.
    whispering in my ear,
or was it just the wind.
    "you can never have me."
    her name is happiness.

    she watches,
    she laughs and claps,
giddy at my obvious pain and dejection.
    she calls for more.
    she calls for blood,
wants to hear the crackle of broken bones.
    her name is happiness.

    they kick,
    tear,
    hurt.
    while i am down,
    they hit harder.
    her laughter:
    their inspiration.
    inspiring cruelty and aggression.
    she laughs,
    they laugh as well.
    their names are destiny,
    faith,
    hope,
    love,
    life...

    perpetually optimistic.
    stabbed,
    beaten,
    torn,
    ripped,
    disfigured,
    destroyed.
    in all this lays perfection.
    in my faults,
    my pains,
    i find perfection.
    stronger,
    so much stronger for it.

    perpetual optimism.
    i will stand again.
    i will be fine.
    stronger,
    so much stronger for it.
    broken and ravished,
    bruised and bloody.
    i hold on.
    i fight back.
    stronger.

    Perpetually optimistic.
    her name is happiness;
    she scoffs and terrorizes.
    stronger,
    so much stronger for it.
    i smile...
