I will say one thing I was and still am very well liked.I be blunt everyone that know me except for a few stiff necked ELders think I am all right. All I am saying the Elder that takes himself to seriously is usually the one that is the first to DF someone. I hate hypocrites very much. The Elder that is more human is usually the one you want on your committee meeting, because if you get three stiff necks you are in trouble. They are the ones that say no gatherings, no fun, no going to the pub, no watching pg-13 movies. They are the one that everyone hates and we Kill you thinking they are doing GODs will. The Elder that will watch porn is the Elder that forgives you when you do something wrong.

Again sytrictly speaking and scripturally speaking it is God who forgives not the elders - but in practice it is of course the elders who forgive

stillajwexelder, how can you ask that?

Watch and read all the porn you like - as far as I'm concerned as long as you are not hurting anyone, do whatever you want. However, when you became an elder you put yourself in a position of power and trust over the people. You took on a position of teacher, mentor and advisor. You became a role model to all the other JW's who were not as far up the ministerial ladder as you. Every JW knows that they are not supposed to view pornography and all the members of the congregation were looking up to you as a role model. You knew at the time that pornography was a big no-no so viewing it whilst you were an elder was an abuse of power and position.

Are you still a JW stillajwexelder?

The elder that watches porn is a man who is contravening what is a fundamental teaching in his religion - in the bible.

Great and good men stand up for what they believe in. You tell me you are well liked, I'm sure then that all your friends and allies will stand up with you to try and affect changes in the religious organisation that is the Jehovah's Witnesses. The religion only has as much power as the people give it, so go on, you and your elder buddies make changes happen - you have the power. Otherwise you and your porn loving buddies are allowing things to remain as they are.

You were right when you said earlier that I may be surprised about things that go on inside Elders meetings. What I've heard already I'm not surprised about, but I tell you what, I'll be surprised if I ever hear of you and your cronies doing just what I say you should be doing....... I'll watch these posts though just in case I'm wrong.

Elise ELders are human they have human trates. They are not appointed by Holy spirit. I had a friend that was an Elder gave most of the prominent talks at the assemblies. He was removed unjustly and quit going to the meetings for over a year. The whole time he was writing the Society and talking to his friends in high places like CO's and Bethel Elders. I happened to hear that my friend went to the sunday meeting but stay in the back room the follow Tuesnight I recieved a phone call and was told that my friend had been re-appointed an ELder. He had not been out in th field minisrty for over a year plus no meetings. The following Tuesday after meeting I recieved a call that my friend had DA himself. I made a trip to see him and he told me that when all of this happened to him he know the truth about the TROOF. He told me he was getting a divorce and was getting married the following weekend, he had been having an afair for months. I asked him why he went to all the trouble trying to get back in. He said to remove the doubt in his mind, why because if the HOLLY Spirit would re-appoint him after what all of that he nkow it was not the truth. I have to say this was one of my ephiny moments in my life I could see the big picture.

    where do I begin?

Elise:: You need to point those elders out, so that they too can be men and stand up for their own convictions

Why? So the same trauma inflicted on him and his family can now be inflicted on them? Yeah, that's a good idea

Elise:: This way, you may all be able to affect the changes within the oranisation that is the Jehovah's Witnesses, that you so believe are necessary.

Sorry. Can't be done. Not even by "being a man" and ratting out your kindly, good-natured, forgiving friendsand trying to get everyone to accept they really are only human after all and not God's elite in their desperate bid for survival at Armageddon.

Skyman:: I will say one thing I was and still am very well liked

I can only speak for myself, but I liked you as a JW and I like you even better now that we are both X-JWs.

As to porn while a Witness?...Well, being young and living at home when I was "in" I didn't have much access but, being an aspiring artist (LOL) I was able to devise my own, and I did. What can I say? I was frustrated, guilt-ridden, and repressed. Weren't we all? But it was a vicious cycle. Repressed sexuality--guilt for feeling sexual--a few moments of pleasurable mental and physical stimulation--relief of tension--increased guilt--increased tension---increased need for relief. Glad I broke the cycle by getting OUT

I was asking because I think it's disgusting that a man who is blatantly contravening the teachings of his faith and obviously does not agree with it, would still be a Jehovah's Witness. I don't know how this person's circumstances have changed since he made up his alias which is why I asked. If he is believes in his right to watch porn then he should stand up for his convictions and tell the other Jehovah's Witnesses that he can't live under their rules. It's up to the organisation then whether it makes changes to accommodate the needs of it's members (who, from what I've read in these threads number more than one) or not. Otherwise you are just the same old hypocritical Jehovah's Witnesses that you yourselves moan about.

Merry, you seem to have missed the point of what I was saying.

You left the organisation, good on you. I did too, good on me.

If those elders were so concerned about their families, they would be less worried about the effects of being disfellowshiped and more worried about the consequences of them being poor role models to their childen (and the rest of the congregation). They would also be more worried about continuing to keep their families in a religion that is obviously so stifling.

I do not agree with your 'can't do' stance.
