He's smart, and he's pragmatic, waiting until after he opened his gifts to announce his apostasy.

We had a conversation with Liam like that when he was younger, I wondered if he believed santa was real so asked him: "Liam, do you believe that Santa is real?" He looked thoughful for a moment and then asked: "If I say no, will I still get my presents?" "Yes, of course", I replied. "Ok, no" he said. Ah, the magic of christmas! They were excited when they were very little and we left a plate of cakes out for Santa - when they saw 'he' had taken a bite out we knew he'd been.

Santa is real if you believe. Where's your faith?
I asked my 8 year old granddaugher if Santa was real after Christmas. She said she was pretty sure he was real, because all of Santa's wrapping paper was different than the paper everyone else used.

Now see, Liam is a little smarter, but he didn't figure for his wiley ole dad using reverse psychology in him!
It's a harsh world, but the lil wolf-cubs have to learn somehow!
You're a good dad, teaching them such important and practical lessons about a cruel and sadistic world, Si!

This is the most important bit:
I'm happy knowing he's already smarter than the average JW (and will never be one!)
Glad he's intelligent enough at his tender young age to be able to reason things out. Good lad!!

My oldest son (6 yrs) cracks me up. His and my sence of humor are on identical wave lengths. Although I dont have any humorous stories to share at the moment, * what I wanted to say is that he is just begining to believe in Santa. My wife and I never really promoted the notion that Santa is responsible for the gifts (never discouraged either). It took him going to kindergarten and being exposed to the other children to really take an interest. So we've had a little more fun this year playing on the whole Santa bit.
Yeah, kids are amazing. Especially when their given a nurturing enviornment to flourish in.
* Same with my five year old grand-daughter she just decided to believe, (made for lots of fun.) Since she's in kindergarten she's starting to think santa might be "real". at the beginning of the season she was arguing with kids telling them he "was not real " by the time the big event arrived she decided to be a believer.
I am hoping she never becomes a JW. and will not if her Nanny and Mom have anything to do with it!
