I think what happened in my old hall with my ex and I caused quite a stir. I haven't the nerves yet to tell the whole story because it is terrible. I need a good counsellor to get it out of me without a breakdown. The second last counsellor I went to tried to hit on me so I pretty well gave up. I remember a brother and his wife were having difficulties and his father, an elder tried to help them. The father ended up leaving with the son's wife. They had two kids after that...Before they got married he came back and tried to get back with his first wife but she was not a very nice "lady" and I think she made life miserable for him so he finally left, married his"daughter-in-law" and lived miserably ever after. They are all still JW"s. Try to twist your head around that!

memphis, tn has many congos. so when i moved to the last one i ever attended, it just so happened that quite a few teenagers (including many children of elders) from different congos in the area including the one i was at, were caught having an orgy...

i always end up missing the fun stuff.

    LMAO @ avishai!

I never witnessed anything like mini's example either. I only remember two extremely minor incidents, one at each KH I attended...one disturbed women coming to the meeting in jeans, flannel shirt and rubber boots with her little dog under her arm, and one man who rode up to the KH on his bike and came inside with a something in a plastic bag (there was some fear that it was a bomb or something) and started yelling (couldn't make out what he was saying).

An elder talked quietly with the woman in the first instance and escorted her outside. In the second instance, the brothers surrounded the man and either got him outside or in the library...not sure if they called the police or what. Pretty ho hum.

My fade was already in progress when I found out through a JW friend the the PO was DF'd. Seems he was doing the nasty with someone other than his wife.

I never did hear if it was with another JW. I never went back again to find out.

The other big scandal was when the wife of my cousin was regularly f----ng one of the most "loving" brothers in the KH. This was before I bought into the religion. My cousin left da truf and "loving" bro and cousins wife are married happily everafter and have been causing problems for the past 30 years. This "loving" brother has been the PO of my old cong. for over 12 years now.

Guess this stuff happens all the time.

We had an elderly brother that would say whatever he felt was true. He accused his fellow pioneer partner who was an elder of having a "nigger baby" with another sister. He was convinced of this because he said that the elder would make him wait in the car for an hour at a time. (Although the 12 year old girl looked nothing like the elder). Eventually the elders told him that if he didn't stop telling people this he was going to get disfellowshipped. BTW, the elder had been dead for a number of years when he went on this rant.

What adults do with each other is one thing. I'm not a supporter of adultery; I figure if you can't be faithful it's time to get out of the marriage.

Most scandalous in my experience is any and all child abuse cases that have been covered up and especially where the child is made the bad person (or the child grown up).

In our congregation the biggest scandal involved an elder who sold car/home/life insurance and was a part time real estate broker.

He got a lot of business from members in the congregation. He would charge for his services and sell policies, but never actually pay the insurance company. He just pocketed the money and the brothers/sisters would be walking around uninsured!

My father was driving around for nearly 1 year before he realized that our home and cars weren't insured! Since most of the elder's clients were JWs of course noone brought action against him when all of this was discovered. Not my father though. He filed a complaint with the BBB, the state insurance department and the parent insurance company. The elder's license was revoked in an instant, and my father recovered all of his money.

This same elder was later on accused of setting a fire to a home adjacent to his office. It was never proven and the charges were dropped. Then about 1 year after that he was charged with grand larceny and money laundering when he embezzeled $257k from an elderly man on the sale of his property. This landed that elder in prison for 3 years. Just before that he left his wife and 3 children for a younger worldly woman in Colombia. He was also suspected of trafficking cocaine.

His family was always held up as the "model" family. Pioneer wife, 1 child baptized at age 8 and the other 2 before age 13. His children, except for the youngest one, ran amuck----drinking, smoking, sex and several abortions, and drugs. His daughter was clearly pregnant when she got married at 16. She was not disfellowshipped or even reproved. All of this was covered up until the incidents with the wordly man and my father----then it all hit the fan. The stories made the newspapers and created a stir within the congregation. I personally always hated his guts---he was real arrogant, had a tendency to talk down to people and was an all around phony.
