avi, cool, thanks. but i didn't get a link for a site...

    LT,

yes, i agree to a degree. scientific knowledge cannot be stopped. the methodology that we use to obtain new knowledge however, speaks volumes about our view of the natural world, and our place in it.

in comparison to religion, science is manifestly real. apart from making people feel good about their existence, i can't think of much positive religion has done in comparison with the amount of human violence it has instigated.

corporations are also violent, in non-blood-shedding ways. but violent, none-the-less.

i just think that out of all the labels, religion is the most absurd excuse for violence. this is born of my non-belief, obviously.

My friend, I couldn't agree more. It gives rise to the most amazing bigotry I've ever seen...

That's just another example of the wonderful, peaceful, non-abusive religion called Islam. Islamic fundamentalism affects the surrounding culture wherever it goes. It teaches ruthless, barbarian tactics that will frighten others into accepting their domination over all. When we were confronted with this kind of barbarism from the Japenese emperor worship we stamped it out. It took TWO Japanese cities destroyed by atomic bombs to get through to them....I wonder when the world is going to realize that there is no middle ground with Islamist radicals? Appeasement begets more violence and the grim solution is often as brutal as the original act. For Abaddon and others, the culture is NOT the determining factor as to what causes religious persecution and how cruel it is. The teachings of a state endorsed cult affects the culture at all levels.

Quit slandering all faiths and equating all with this kind of thing. The fact is that this kind of things is planted within the culture by a cult. Anybody that lumps a decent man like George Bush with these types is a total idiot. That's for you, Tetrasquid.

Quit slandering all faiths and equating all with this kind of thing. The fact is that this kind of things is planted within the culture by a cult. Anybody that lumps a decent man like George Bush with these types is a total idiot. Why can't you guys figure out that Saddam had to go? How many mass graves and testimonies from his own people 'crying out' can you ignore? If the world had followed Neville Chamberlain any further than it did we would most might have lived with a non-Aryan, 'cleansed' Europe and a world held hostage to the Nazi atom bomb. You have Islam at the forefront of Jew/Christian hating. Don't tell me that the moderate Islamists 'aren't that way'! You can tell by the sound of their silence at terrorist acts in the west.
Even the most secular Islamic country of any size has atrocious laws in force that imprison and abuse women and others of different faiths. I know three brothers from Turkey that could tell you all about how wonderful Islam is. They say we had better be ready to oppose them or we will be under their rule.
Quit mimicking the idiot libs who simply hate America. That's what its all about anyways. Everyone hated Reagan for putting missles in Europe and beginning the missle defense system. He more than any other person (with help from the Pope and the Poles) helped topple the Soviet Union. Oops, I forgot the socialist/communists might be offended by that!
The bottom line is this: freedom and democracy have a beginning in the middle east and the average muslim has a chance to become secularized and civilized. I know that there are muslims who just want peace, its just that too few of their leaders seem to preach just that.

I do not understand enough about the Muslim faith and all of their atrocities to comment on that topic but i do know that, even though they have been responsible for some shocking acts of terrorism and many folk over here fear that an attack on Australian soil is imminent..........If you were to ask the Australian Public who they fear most in this world, i'm sure that the majority would tell you that they fear the "mad man" George Bush!!

That man alone scares the crappers out of me.....just where is he taking us all?

I sit with a group of Moms 3 days a week and we discuss the happenings of the world and all have commented on the fact that 'they fear for their children's futures more because of him than even the bird flu'!!!!
