Today I received a copy of The Daily Prophet by owl post. It revealed nothing new about the recent tragic happenings at Hogwarts. However, the Quibbler reveals rumors of your whereabouts (along with other Death Eaters) and implies the Order of Phoenix is compromised. So, this is where you are hiding out?

I am curious of your use of the word "implode". Why did you choose it? I can think of many verbs that a person might use:

Explode, rot, fade away, be destroyed, dissolve, atrophy, etc.

My curiosity comes from the fact that I too see the result as being an implosion, although I don't recall anyone else ever describing it that way.

"Ah, an educated man. This certainly eliminates the possibility of your being a field agent."

    Welcome to the board, Severus!

We're Harry Potter 'mad' round our house! Great fun! Nothing more and nothing less!

However, the more I read and learn about prehistory, mythology etc the more fun HP really becomes.

    Hi Severus

    Welcome to the board

    Severus

Thank you for all of your welcomes. I will have to spread a thin dose of cynicism to my response lest I become a gushing dote.

It seems I have lit up the Harry Potter fans here. First, ten points from Legolas's house (I assume Ravenclaw) for ruining the format of this first page with those meddling children. I recommend reconsidering your fascination of that sexy house elf as well.

Wideman: "Welcome! Harry Potter is by no means the first - and won't be the last - victim of the JW paranoia."

Indeed, while JWs proclaim that the "truth sets you free" from spiritism (usually just pre-Christian religion), they actually replace that void with their own brand of dark arts.

Meanwhile very faithful members of JWs openly flaunt their Star Wars and Disney collections. Personally I think Cinderella's "Fairy God-mother" and Yoda are as "dangerous" as soft porn: easy to rationalise, but still does the trick.

shelley (crazyblondeb): "But then, magic is part of my daily life one way or another!"

I laud your viewpoint. The only way JW leadership can keep control is by squelching any sense of direct connection with the spiritual plane. I was positively riddled by the book Draw Close to Jehovah. No Witness can have a relationship with the Almighty through conditionally-accepted prayers, an "anointed" middle-management, and feeding program with the nutritional content of styrofoam. JWs are uber-muggles.

Periodic Bedlam: "However, the Quibbler reveals rumors of your whereabouts (along with other Death Eaters) and implies the Order of Phoenix is compromised."

I must apologise in advance: everything that I represent is a deception. You should know that by the nature of my avatar. When Ms. Rowling completes the wonton manipulation of her audience (otherwise known as Book 7), you will find Snape exonerated as the most effective member of the Order of the Phoenix, hand in hand with a living Dumbledore.

Before I suffocate in my own metaphor, let me predict that the demise of the Watchtower Society and its associated coorporations will come from within. We see that on this forum as JWs race to post news that scoops the average Witness by months. The abject condition of information control is not due to cannon fire against the walls of the Society. It is the very mortar between the bricks that is failing.

candidlynuts: "i havent read it [Harry Potter] but i'm more of a bodice ripping chick lit kinda gal!"

Your Tennessee dialect is disarming, but only because you have furrowed my brow and robe at the same time.

Frogleg: I am curious of your use of the word "implode".

I use that word purposely. To "implode" denotes inward collapse. The greatest enemy of JWs are themselves and the Society is not helping. Satan the boogeyman and his "evil world" are hand puppets of fear. How JWs cling to their morbid fascination of overt persecution.

But time is a subtle and sure cure for all doomsday cults. Today's Witness is likely a successful member of "worldly society", easily compartmentalising field service as a conscience-assuaging rite. Every elder has his own prayer wheel, and the meetings are a trance fest. There is no core to the organisation anymore. Some very active and top-level members, of whom I know personally, are no more than Inferi. They see the world through empty sockets, blaming Satan for the eyes in their hands.

There will long be "Jehovah's Witnesses" of a sort, but the corporate structure, the publishing empire, and the "worldwide unity" of this religion will soon splinter into on the vacuum of its doctrine. Until that time, I wrap myself with the invisibility cloak of blind allegiance.
