JWDaughter, your advice is great. I have been trying to get my old job back to no avail and have looked into volunteering for human rights organisations. I need to focus more time on these pursuits. I will make a schedule and dedicate 5 hrs a day to pursuing these goals. You have lit a fire under my bum and given me a jump start. I needed that. Thanks Kate xx

Lisa, skipping posts is good advice too. I used to do that when I first joined. I need to put that back into practice. You have always given me a lot of support, even though we don't agree about God. Simon, thanks for your post. I think I sometimes go off topic, and that is breaking your guidelines. In future, I will endeavour to start a new topic. Kate. My advice for what it's worth - try to avoid all attempts to comment on another poster's character or intentions. Never tell somebody that anything they say or do is a hangover from the cult.-cofty

This excellent, direct, and constructive advice I can understand. I don't see why posters would get offended but I do accept it is offensive. I have a question About your advice though to clear up some confusion I have.

You said to me in another thread that my view was JW doctrine, to me that's the same as saying I have a hangover from the cult. It helped me and it is. So why is it different, I really don't understand?

I value your opinion and appreciate all your help. I respect you when you call me out. We all need to be called out now and again

So why is it different

When somebody asserts a belief that is identical to a doctrine of the Watchtower it is a statement of fact to point that out. For example, the idea that living things are animated by a "lifeforce".

When somebody accuses another of having personality traits of a cult member - as Talesin does constantly for example - that is a personal attack.

Kate , as some have said you've come on here like a breath of fresh air, you have forthright views and opinions which is great,but you are a million miles away from being banned unless you become absolutely abusive on here to people and I dont think thats in your nature.
