    So as to not hijack another thread I will start a new one...

    I thought I would make an appearance at the Kingdom Hall today to hear first hand this whole new generation explanation. This is my first meeting in almost two years. Let me first emphasize my wife is a very active JW but accepts my stance. After reading another thread about going back I joked with her that I may go also. She said please do. I responded only if she tries to prove Jeruselam was destroyed in 607 BC. she agreed to these terms so I kept my word and went. Here is what happend;

    I showed up 20 minutes late- I really had no interest in an undereducated drone speaking to me from a lame outline that I actually used years ago.

    When the middle song was introduced (something about light getting brighter) I said to my wife wife "this song is horrible" her response? "I know!".

    Then the watchtower study began. Elders were carrying the microphones. I asked my wife if this was a normal occurance. She said no. A bunch of elders were eyieng me up. A few looked at me and I rolled my eyes. My wife said "you were just dying to do that weren't you?"

    The whole study was centering on Gods Holy Spirit. The unbased claim was that JW's have it. So finally the part I came for, the paragraph with the new generation. The conductor asked the question. He only waited for one answer that didn't even answer the question! A scripture was read an another answer was given. and then......On to the next point! I think the answer was scripted or at least the Elders wife who answered was handpicked prior to the study. when the study ended, this wasn't even brought up in the review box. WTF! Of course they dont want to emphasize this. The reasoning is absolutelt idiotic.

    I left right after. I had nothing to say to the these cult members. They either looked at me llike they knew why I was there. Or ignored me. Not that I care I liked making a few of them uncomfortable.

    So in short, I wasted 2 hours of my weekend because I thaought a thread on this site was funny. I reaffirmed my decision to get the heck out. And my wife will now at least consider the facts of Jerusalems destruction.

    I look forward to everyones commentary,

    Tread

    My husband and I are disfellowshipped for apostasy, but I was really tempted to attend the WT and just try to stare down my old friends. I just couldn't get over the heebie jeebies I get from even driving by the KH. I expect the generation change will go "whoosh" over the heads of most, but I truly hope that it will be a big brick in the wall of nagging doubts to some of old friends, as the 1995 article was to us.

    TREADNH2O- Thanks for the update as to what happened at the meeting. I figured some elders would just blow right through the material without acknowledging it. Easier to bypass it - than explain it, as it IS idiotic. I was going to go to the " Generation " WT study- but I haven't been to a meeting in six and a half years - and I didn't want to waste my very little time off Sunday morning. So I stayed home slept in and made whoopee with my wife. Much more rewarding. Peace out, Mr. Flipper

    I visited a different congro today and I kid you not - when the bro asked the Q. on the generation paragraph it was almost silence from a very bored audience and then what looked like an elder answered and said " the new thought is that the generation that saw the generation that saw 1914 is the new meaning of the generation".

    You could have heard a pin drop and the conductor said that was very succinctly put and could anyone expand on that. Another elder type repeated what the first chap said in a few different words and on to Q. b which was about what other noolite did you appreciate the holy spirit for revealing or some such nonsense.

    Someone's been reading on here methinks!
