An disfellowshipped, unmarried pregnant woman should have other concerns than a cold, wet and dreary island where sheep outnumber the humans 300 to 1 - moshe
If only you paid as much attention to birth control as you do the Malvinas, you could still be playing around with the guys and have the Kingdom Hall fooled, too. - moshe

moshe I doubt you will apologise to LMSA for behaving like a pompous ass but perhaps you could shut up.

LMSA, besty and others I am enjoying the history lesson.

I'm beginning to think that this question has far less to do with history than with the Argentine's territorial ambitions.

They have their eyes on South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands, aas well as the British Antarctic Territories including South Orkney, South Shetland and Graham Land, but are frustrated with the latter group due to the Antarctic Treaty of 1961 ensuring that for the time being Antarctica is reserved inernationally for scientific research.

Edit: Just saw your post above, Cofty. I'm sure you wrote it from the most chivalrous of motives but if you look carefully at both threads (this in the last few days) you might see that Moshe does have a point.

I don't think she/he whoever this person is here to get help- She/he doesn't act at all concerned about a coming baby, where's the daddy/lover?- yada yada- I think this person just stumbled on this old topic from a google search and played upon your emotions with a made up woe-is-me i'm pregnant and DF'd from the KH sorry tale- and then she/he jumps right into this Malvinas topic- Crap- this person's command of the English language and knowledge of idioms is just too good for someone from Argentina without a college degree in English-- Probably lives right here in the USA--

Moshe, If you know she is wrong, why so angry?

you know, in this day and age, single women get to screw like men, get to be pregnant while single if they want to and THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT. Is that why you are so angry?

Go listen to Rush. bask in your self-righteous anger and hatred. this generation of angry old white men is passing. you are almost irrelevant now.

And, I did not highjack this thread. You started the ad hominen attack on somebody you disagree with on the basis that she is pregnant and single.

Back to the Falklands topic now.

personally I'm done with second-guessing who Internet people claim to be, or their motives for being here

I do care about the page view count top right and making sure that facts are surfaced where possible

Rowan, I do think Moshe has a point here.

An expectant mother tends to be caught up in preparation and care for a coming baby. Hormones kick in. All one really thinks about is getting ready for the baby and making sure everything is as well as can possibly be.

In this instance we have someone coming onto the board, apparently disfellowshipped, but quickly talking just about the Falklands issue. And more than that, she chooses a name that she would know would be bound to raise hackles.

Moshe may even be right about her whereabouts. Maybe she is in the USA; maybe elsewhere, but not in the Argentine. Her last post was made at about 04.25 Buenos Aires time (time taken from the "6 hours ago" currently showing against that last post) and she was posting at intervals regularly before that. A pregnant woman concerned for hers and the baby's health wouldn't do that. Sleep is important.

Still, it is all very much about the Falklands topic. I have a feeling that whoever she is she came on here to try to influence public feeling against Britain, with all her talk of colonialism and colonial this or that. She's not doing it so much now, not since I called her on it, but look back at her earlier posts and you'll see she gets it in wherever she can. We have the word imperialist in one of the most recent posts.

It is almost as though she is posting as part of the current campaign by Argentina to raise the issue of the Falkland Islands at every turn, even down to providing foreign Ministers or delegations with a DVD outlining Argentina’s claim to the British archipelago. I’ve already mentioned above that Argentina’s ambitions spread a lot further afield than the Falklands.

Is Emilie, in fact, a new form of troll?

Besty, I agree with your second sentence above. And in respect of the first, it is worth noting that there are anomalies about this poster.

Still, she has done a great service for truth about the Falklands. I've learned a lot through trying to find out the truth, and as I said before, if there's one thing I love, it's historical research! I embarked on this because I wanted to find out if Britain really does have a strong claim.

    Yes. It really does.

Chariklo, I agree with the fact that she may not be who she claims to be. She did not answer my posts/ PM about argentinean congregations, etc. not that she had to, but... makes me wonder.

Still, this character, real or fictional, whoever this is, is being personally attacked because of the claim that she is single and pregnant. I'm not cool with that.

That may be how it seems, Rowan, but do you think Moshe would have spoken like that if she had come here as a genuine distressed just-disfellowshipped unmarried mum seeking support?

I'm sure he wouldn't have. Put it all in the context of someone who says she intends to get reinstated and then leave and go to another country, bringing her child up in a lie? All of that together doesn't sit well, really, does it?

Looking at when posts are made and not made, my current guess is more likely Australia or New Zealand.

A new form of troll? A professsional troll working for Argentina? You might be right- I don't know any young person raised as a JW who is so political and so informed about a nationalistic topic with such a good command of a second language- the hispanic school kids here in Florida can't write like this- Many native Spanish speakers can speak English, but they can't write and debate like this! (unless they have a degree) You have been duped.

I can see your post Cedars. :)

I think the biggest sadness over all this is that nothing was settled diplomatically. Lives were lost because the Argentinian government decided to send in soldiers to 'liberate' the 'Malvinas'. They told these conscripts, mostly boys not even out of their teens that the settlement was populated by Spanish and they would be welcomed with open arms. Why did Argentina do it? If they really wanted the 'Malvinas' back it was stupid to send in boy conscripts to do the work of military men. All they succeeded in doing was using their own young men as 'cannon fodder'. On top of this they succeeded in making the British dig their heels in even more and become even more determined to keep the Islands and with no opening for negotiations left.
