It's the 1% horrible bit for you I'm afraid.

Since when was a TR 7 rated as a sports car?

I don't don't know about the TR7 but as a teen I dreamed of owning a TR6. That's Alan Alda of MASH fame at the wheel. I wanted a soft sky blue one with a cloud white top.

I'm only 50 yrs old so I think I probably won't have a mid life crisis for at least another 10 years. I eat right,,don't worry very much, getting lots of execise, alway learning, laugh alot, got things to do but not enough time to do them all, I'm kinda looking forward to this crisis thing,,maybe mine will be a mid life enlightenment.

That's what it turns into once the shock passes. You sound pretty together. Are you married and do you have kids and grandkids? They make it all worthwhile.Maybe you're just lucky and very blessed, you know? Thank you for sharing.

    Flying High:

The TR series of sports cars were made by Triumph. The TR4, TR4a, TR5 & TR6 were great cars indeed, and had a large in-line 6 cylinder engine that was very lively indeed. I had the use of a TR5 for quite a while and loved it.

The TR 7, however, was a 4 cylinder car, mass produced in the 70's and much cheaper to buy. They had awful problems with build quality too.

    Flyin,

I'm married,,and have one grandchild that I know about, there could be more i dunno,,,but I don't think that has anything to do my outlook on life,,maybe I'm just lucky.

The TR7 was also not nearly as attractive as the earlier TRs.

I recall how powerful the little TR6 my friend had was. He took me for a few drives in it and this is how I fell in love with the car. I recall being impressed with the real wood glove compartment as well as other trim. I loved the leather seats. I loved the way the car felt flying down the road.

I can tell that you are very lucky as well as kind and loving. You're just an all around nice guy. I've noticed this when I read your posts.

  • How old were you when you went through it?
  • Started about 4 years ago. If you mean an examination of who you've been, what you've done, the people you've known, the avenues and options that were once so wide open are now diminished and the true realization that you're halfway there (or more than halfway), then I suppose that's what this is.

  • How long did it take to get through it?
  • Still working it out.

  • Did you come to embrace the new old you?
  • See answer #2 but I'd say so.

  • What things did or do you tell yourself to cope or accept the end of your youth?
  • That I accept the path I've chosen to this point and the good/bad things that go along with it. That I accept the consequences of my choices each day and make better choices. That I try to "surrender gracefully the things of my youth" and try to share more of myself with the continuum,....
