For those of you that have been following my story, and also those who havent of course!! I have an update...
My fiance, who is a MS in our congregation, decided to ask a question at the book study tonight...The revalation book is talking about the UN and how it was the League of Nations and then was abyssed..etc..anyway, he was doing the mics and raised his hand during one of the paragraphs.
Now, this is all pretty normal but when he said, "I have a question", I looked up from my bible and my heart started racing, you know, no one asks questions during the question and answer...so he asks the book study conductor why the society was a member of the UN through an NGO when we are supposed to have nothing to do with it...I almost had to get up and walk out!! thanks to this board I told him that!! and it actually got through to him! The study conductor looked like someone had punched him in the face and our book study, which is rather large, about 35 people, all looked straight at him for an answer. His response was, "well at the time we thought that it would benefit the work, but when we realized the rules of being an NGO had changed we terminated our membership". My fiance was ready with, well apparently the rules of being an NGO in the UN have not changed, except after sept 11th, and we revoked our membership before then...
I think everyone was completely in shock, including me, an the elder asked to talk to him privately with any concerns he had after the book study so they could continue on with the lesson..I reluctantly left after the meeting and i am anxiously waiting for him to knock on my door with what the conductor said...I can't believe it, I am so proud of him!!!! I would have never had the guts to do that...wow!
