Can anyone tell me why this practice was stopped. I was told the reason for the guards was to prevent apostates from "attacking" anyone up there and disrupting the program. Has anyonne witnessed an "attack" of APOSTATES GONE WILD?

They tried to storm the platform at Twickers one year.

The practice was not stopped. There are attendants at the entrance to the stage at all of our assemblies.

Several years ago in Madison Wisconsin, a man dressed in a long white robe came into the colosium and mached up on to the stage, announcing the whole time that he was "The Faithful and Discreet Slave". They had to drag him out.

It has been five years since I have been to an assembly so I did not know they stopped guarding the platform.

XBEHERE hmmmmmm...... The practice was not stopped. There are attendants at the entrance to the stage at all of our assemblies. I was at the assembly here on 25 January and 23 Febuary no guards. Been that way at this assembly for the last (7?) years.

I used to be on the Attendants detail, for this, when I lived in England. I started on that squad in 1987, at Nottingham Forest's ground.
One year in Nottingham a guy tried to get to the platform. Another year a disabled "apostate" tried to ram his electric wheelchair through the gate.
    Fun times.

Yet another year, at another ground, a woman decided to streak - LOL.

Nothing opens the eyes of a mind-numb dub like an apostate rushing the stage (naked or robed) screaming, "I AM THE FD&S!"

And of course, they are the ones that "represent" all of us in the eys of dubdom.

I have found Anti-Witnessing to be much more effective at a convention than making a scene.

I show up dressed nice, but obviously not a JW. The JWs have an overwhelming urge to come up to me to "witness" to me... I then take advantage of that to propose other thoughts and ideas.
