Seems in line with Watchtower beliefs, since they don't believe in freedom of... or... from religion for members or children of members.
It's a two-way street. :)
it is proposed to the seimas not to grant state recognition to the religious community of jehovah's witnesses.
lithuania05/05/2024 09:30. jehovah's witnesses; baptism associative / e. ovcharenko / bns photo.. it is proposed to the seimas to refuse to grant state recognition to the lithuanian jehovah's witnesses religious community.. community representatives told bns that they hope that parliamentarians, taking into account the practice of the european court of human rights, will make a different decision.. the draft resolution registered by the chairman of the human rights committee of the seimas, tomas vytautas raskevičius, states that this community does not meet the requirements of the constitution and the law, that its education and rites do not conflict with laws and decency.. "the ministry of justice has determined that the religious teaching of this community is possibly not compatible with the constitution of our country in two aspects.
the first is that jehovah's witnesses oppose blood transfusions due to certain aspects related to health care (...).

i had 50 years in.
here's a few (personal) observations to live by:.
1. the one true religion is not here.
? :)
i used to attend the meetings and was baptized about 30 years ago but i haven't gone to the meetings or associated with any one i new from the congregation for around 15 - 20 years.
i want to get back to studying but i am not ready to go to any meetings.
other than the watchtower and awake what book is used these days for people just starting to study with jehovah's witnesses?.
If you want to "study" the Bible...just sit down and read one.
If you are just lonely, why not join a club based on a favorite activity?
Simply Google "Jehovah's Witnesses" and "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society"...then check Google "news" for recent events. Wikipedia is very accurate. A former Bethel Elder created "JWFacts.com", read it.
If you restart and then quit, you may be shunned or marked. You may also be quizzed by two elders and shunned as an "apostate" if you answer their questions too honestly ie:"incorrectly".
as your family considers its disaster preparedness plan, please ensure that the secretary has up-to-date contact information for you and your emergency contact.
also, we have re- peatedly seen good results when brothers and sisters are prepared with go bags and are ready to obey direction when they face various kinds of disasters.
please be sure you have a go bag, and review its contents at least once a year.
My "worldly" dad fought in two wars, was shipwrecked, and was stranded on an island for 3 months. Later he worked as a plant supervisor for a Silicon Valley Defense contractor making Nuclear Triggers, Microwave communications, reverse engineering of Soviet Tech, etc. He was a "prepper"...to a point. His concern was "EMPs" (Electromagnetic pulse tech) during the Cold War. He and his Military contacts felt it was likely the US "Grid" would be knocked out for a few + weeks. He insisted we be self-reliant for a minimum of 4 weeks. He even kept spare electronics in Faraday cages and insisted on a full freezer, generator, and garden. He said no one would survive a full nuclear attack, and that beyond 4 weeks the government would respond or we would all die anyway. :(
MOST USA disasters are relatively local (Wildfires, earthquakes, Tornados, floods, Hurricanes, riots), simply packing snacks, cash, important papers, photos, and laptops, and then driving 100+ miles away to hang out in a comfy hotel with a restaurant is our idea of a disaster plan. :)

wear your watchtower baseball cap and t-shirt to command the high ground at the next jw picnic or fishing trip!

if it is illegal for minors to get married, enter into contracts, drink, and smoke, why is it legal for them to enter into lifelong religious contracts they can not break without family shunning and community ostracism????
how religious shunning ruins lives.
a form of institutionalized estrangement, shunning hurts health of the excluded.. updated march 27, 2024 |psychology today magazine.
It's a brief overview of studies from other journals (all shown on the link) in layman's language.
i believe an an elder told someone who's daughter (14 yo) became sexually active with a 26 year old in the neighborhood, that maybe they should get married.
so, they did... with parental consent.
he turned out to be a ex-convict who shot his first wife in the face with a shotgun.
In the late '60s, a young sister in our hall was told she could not remarry because her husband had run off with his GAY lover, therefore he had not committed adultery which required someone of the opposite sex.
PS- this was from the US Bethel service desk!
