What is the main reason the Watchtower Society baptize their children so young?

In reality, it all cheapens the meaning of things like "dedication" and "ordained minister." They may as well start infant baptism.

I hated when young children were called ''ministers.'' There was nothing worse than seeing a young baptized boy giving a talk in the Ministry School looking at the audience while a baptized sister had to pretend she was conducting a study or talking to a householder. She could never face the audience.

Well, comparing to "the world" as the Dubs say, 8 or 9 isn't so young as compared to 2 or 3 months old infants being baptized, as they like to bring up with their smug attitude. That is true, but and 8 or 11 year old isn't old enough to sign a contract, so basically they just signed a contract with Jah to be his faithful servant when they obviously don't have the full understanding of what that includes.

I was baptized for that reason in the summer of 1974 at a young age of 13.

I was also baptized at ripe age  of 13  in the spring of 1973

    ( same location perhaps ;).

They want to be able to usurp the authority of parents.

Absolutely!! Watchtower wants to control young and old. Once I got baptized, then I started to get groomed for the pioneer work. The push to pioneer came more from other members of the congregation than from my own parents.

and when they're that age, they most likely wont have any knowledge of what a commercialized fraud the WTS. organization is.

It took me 40 years to finally realize that the WTBTS is just a real estate and book printing corporation.

The bait and switch! Pretend that they will serve Jehovah when in reality you will serve a human corporation whose whole objective is to sell magazines and books.

They do it because the rules are they don't have to shun if they were never baptized, and they know many are waking up younger and want them baptized before they can really think and know what's going on and find out about the lies so when they inevitably do, then they can make their parents shun them and not risk them learning TTATT.

That's it right there! I have a cousin who was baptized at 15 years of age. He was disfellowshipped for fornication years later and is shunned to this day. His sister ( who was never baptized and quit attending all meetings) has no problems talking and being in the same room with any Jehovah's Witness because she was never baptized.

@Rules you forget that at the time that Jesus walked the earth John the Baptist just started with baptising people.

furthermore billions of people (in other denominations that consider themselves christian) are baptised right after they are born

Anyway the main reason is,... WHY NOT baptise Teens?  We let them make career and education choices that influence them the rest of their lifes at that age so why not the choice to serve Jehovah?

there are  biblical examples of young people who make a stand for Jehovah,.. Samuel did, David did,.. Jesus did, to name a few

Either you follow the first-century or you don't.

What does that have to do with anything?  Scriptural answer please.

Again, how is that relevant?  Watchtower's baptism of children is much closer to the infant baptisms of the Catholic Church than to the fully adult baptisms of the Bible.

Why not?  Because it's not Bible based, and JWs claim to follow the Bible to the letter.  Don't overlook the good responses of previous posters which show that career and education choices are not nearly as heavy as the choice to get baptised.

Yes, they "made a stand for Jehovah," but making a stand wasn't the question, getting baptised was.  Jesus may have made a stand at a young age, but he was baptised when he was 30.

It appears you have answered the question about child baptism with what makes sense to JWs, which is meaningless since many things have been proved wrong that made sense to them in the past.

Remember an admission that Watchtower has had to make regarding things that made sense at the time but turned out to be wrong.

"With varying degrees of success, they endeavored to avoid being dogmatic about details not directly stated in the Scriptures." (Proclaimers book, p135)

That response in itself is very slippery because it relates to Watchtower's teachings of 1925 which included HUGE false prophecies, most of which have been completely whitewashed by JWs, but at least they admitted they should stick with things that are "directly stated in the Scriptures."

So let's do that here.  What are the Scriptural reasons for baptising children?
