They're pathological and will have no trouble having it "both"ways. Theocratic warefare, you know; you don't have to tell the truth.

If there is enough protest to the United Way, they will pull funding. The UW funding of Boyscouts came under a lot of protest and funding was pulled because of discrimination.

Here's the table that is used for designating donations. It is for people who want to direct their donations solely to one charity. Check in the last column on the right and scroll down to the bottom. I highlighted the WTS.

United Way's Restricted Donation policy (I hope this formats correctly):

    Designation/Restricted Gift Policy

    1. A donor may restrict any part of their gift to any IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization in the United States.

    2. Designated/restricted gifts are valid for one year only. If you wish to restrict your gift you must complete a new designation/restricted gift form each year. Gifts not restricted will be distributed through the dozens of different services of United Way's Network for Caring.

    3. A donor may restrict to one or more of the following:

Community Care-United Way's Network for Caring

      Type of Service (issue related)

      Any Geographic Area

      Specific Agency

    4. A minimum $36 per restricted gift per designated agency per year is required for a donor to restrict his/her charitable gift.

    5. Designated/Restricted gifts are available to employees, individuals, and corporations making charitable gifts.

    6. A service fee equal to nine percent of the per designated gift amount will be applied up to a maximum of $100 per charity per year. No processing fee is applied when gifts are restricted to other United Ways.

    7. Designated/Restricted gifts can only be paid out if contributions are received. Because of normal employee turnover, no organization's employee total pledge is paid in full. As a result, United Way of Santa Barbara County must use an uncollectible rate to balance all the payments received from all employers for a specific restricted charity. Each employer's actual uncollectible rate is used when sending the group check to the restricted charity.

    8. Payouts to designated charities usually take place in February, April, August and December. All cash, checks, and one-time credit card restricted gifts from the immediately preceding annual campaign are paid out in February. The April payout represents the final % payroll deductions from the annual campaign of 16 months prior. The August payout represents the first portion of payroll deductions (covering the January to June deduction period from the preceding annual campaign). The December payout represents another partial payout of deductions received.

    9. All restricted gifts are paid directly to the charity, separately and regardless of the named charity's funding from this or any other United Way or funding source.
Originally approved in 1969 and revised periodically in response to customer requests; this current copy was approved in March 2003.

The United Way in my area does not have the WTS listed. So I am guessing it is a local thing. I wonder if there is something behind this. I know that the WTS revamped a convention center in that area for reduced rates--I wonder if this is connected.

But checking mine I saw that a local sister is on the board of directors of the local United Way....

The official Watchtower website admits itself, that disaster relief supplies are (FUNNELED THROUGH) the congregations of Jehovah's Witnesses by (NON WITNESSES). They give the example of Kobe Japan. They claim this was done because it was the fastest way to get supplies out to the folks in need. They fail to mention, that it was also because they were a member.

When hurricane Andrew struck, the supplies donated out, were handled in the same way. The very people that Jehovah's Witnesses condemn, are the very same ones who were giving many of them theit very next meal. Go here and read paragraphs 2 and 3 under (Disaster Relief- from their own words).

    Feelings

    of Coercion

? New York city is no longer permitting the largest charity in the U.S., the United Way, to solicit funds from employees of the city through automatic payroll deductions. Said the New York Times: "According to Mayor Koch?s administrative assistant, Diane M. Coffey, the Mayor believed that United Way?s solicitation methods made employees feel coerced into contributing and that these methods wasted the time of city workers. Mrs. Coffey said United Way?s campaign was one in which city department heads were involved and team captains were appointed to solicit contributions. ?It was an accelerated and intense solicitation effort undertaken by the city,? Mrs. Coffey said, ?and the Mayor felt it was not appropriate to have city employees spend this time or perform this function.? . . . Another factor in the decision, Mrs. Coffey said, was the increasing number of requests for deduction privileges from other charity groups."

    Sweet

    Charity

    ·

"There?s a war of professional fundraisers going on all over the country," declared the head of San Francisco?s Concerned Citizens for Charity, "and there is no charity among these people." Apparently, many smaller charities feel that they are being crowded out of their share of the charity dollar by the giant charity organization, United Way. They accuse United Way of monopolistic practices and, in some cases, are presenting their charges in lawsuits.

    Charity

    for Homosexuals

    ·

"For the first time in its long history," reports California?s San Francisco Chronicle, "the United Way (formerly United Crusade, formerly Community Chest) is funding a homosexual group; $30,000 [U.S.] to Pacific Center for Human Growth in Berkeley." No doubt contributors will be interested to know how their money is being used.

I doubt that United Ways would continue to send funds to the WT if they knew some of it is being used to defend pedophiles.

    Good find Voyager!
