Page 6 of the same letter from the Branch:

Factors to consider: This direction could apply in several situations, such as: When a “known” former child molester begins attending congregation meetings; when a judicial committee determines that a child molester is repentant and will remain a member of the Christian congregation; when a child molester is disfellowshipped and later cleans up his life and is reinstated.

But what happens when they know of a "worldly" sex offender living in the area?

Whenever the elders are notified of a known sex offender living in the territory, they are to mark the address on the territory card as a “Do Not Call.” Thereafter, two elders should visit these addresses every six months to a year to give the individuals an opportunity to hear the good news and verify whether the sex offender still lives there.

Wanted to bump this up so people can hear the proceedings. Thanks so much for posting these. It's obvious Applewhite's just a hired gun for WT leaders being paid to spew out the WT company line . Ridiculous. Wife ad I are going to finally start listening to Day 4 part 3 this afternoon. Been taking it slow as we've been busy

ucantnome: The Catholic Church is next.
    why does that matter?

Because what happens with the JWs will have an impact on the structure of the Catholic Church. Why do you think Applewhite supported the JW organizational structure? It is because the Catholic Church's structure will also be affected by how well the WTS' judical system stands up in this inquiry.

Esse quam videri - "If the Governing Body was brought before this Royal Commission they would be... RIPPED TO SHREDS !!!!!"

"Eviscerated" was the word I was thinking.

Esse quam videri - "Seems like the secular authorities in Nevada take child safety and protection far more seriously than the Jehovah's Witnesses."

Both ironic and strangely appropriate, considering Vegas is basically the USA's Amsterdam.

It's funny, but there's a a strong element of reality to what you said.

At this point in the WTS's evolution, "policies", "doctrines", and "beliefs" have all pretty much come to be viewed by JWs as the same thing.

Any demand by the state to change their "policies" would therefore, in effect, be interpreted by JWs as "Satan's World" trying to make them change/abandon their "beliefs" (which, incidentally, is why they sometimes try to play the "freedom of religion" card)...

...and nothing get's a fundy's back up faster than being told what they can or cannot "believe".
