One silly show that was kind of addicting was "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman"

A game show that was silly but fun was as Minimus mentioned, Hollywood Squares but I think best with Paul Lynde.

Match Game was great and the clips on YouTube are still funny and silly.

Also silly was the Gong Show

Canadians have our own brand of SILLY including kids shows "The Hilarious House of Frankenstein" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=82Ub1G7byLw , Uncle Bobby http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=moVmHzcawvw, and the "Friendly Giant" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLuo4IJg9U0 among others.

Canadian game shows include ones such as "Party Game" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o-qXHQ4vijw

Incognito - I'm Canadian and never heard of any of those shows! Except the Friendly Giant. That was classic. "Look up...look waaaay up. And I'll call Rusty."

Thanks to Shirley and JamesW I now have a combo of "77 sunset strip *snap *snap*" and "there's a man who lives a life of danger" running through my head.

As long as it doesn't get bumped by "Come listen to a story bout a man named Jed." I'll be okay.

And the Uncle Bobby Show. I saw it a few times and thought the only way he could do his show was drunk. Very funny show.

I felt sorry for the Canadians living in Saskatchewan in the 1970's before cable.

I heard they only had 2 channels. One in French the other in English.

The morning had children's programing, the afternoon soap operas.

I loved The Hudson Brothers Show, a Saturday morning flick, "Hey, Margoles."

I also love Mister Ed to this day.

Here in the Cincinnati area, we had Hattie the Witch, the Cool Ghoul, and Dr. Creep. They all had good local silly shows. Oh, and Uncle Al and Captain Wendy were the king and queen of preschool TV!

Hondo the Virginian, Allias Smith and Jones.

Apart fro Dr Who i believe the entire thread is American T.V shoes. Quite an achievement when most were shown in England and we only had 3 channels.

In the late 60s Frank Price head of Universal became aware that women controlled the t.v switch and hence my beloved westerns became mosr romantic and less gunfights.

English shows i remember were huffungpuffing puff and catweasle, z cars the Sweeney, some mothers do have them, Dads Army, Benny Hill, Steptoe and Son, the likely lads ect ect....Did these shows not get shown in the states? I know you had your own version of Steptoe and Son.
