This is pretty par for the course though; beth-hell has relinquished most of its appointing duties to the BOE with strict instructions to tattle back to mother when something changes.

I don't really know why, but I think it's because when something does go wrong the bigwigs can say, "don't blame us it was the elderberries, THEY appointed this person, not us".

Could it be that by this method they can sustain that these folks are not volunteers and have never represented the Watchtower?

I thought this was covered before, something about having too much communicatyion between the WT and the local congregations. The issue of agency

So curious as to on what grounds would Bethal not nominate someone after the elder's approval? And how does the change affect pioneers?

If Bro Kissass applies, elders approve, bethal denies? Is it possible that Bro Kissass is a pedo thus wts denies the privilege of pioneering and in this case the elders never knew of Bro Kissass' past? Or was Bethal appointment just a formality?

The change in this procedure means what for jws and wts?

Is it because if pioneers were approved by wts they were wts representatives which also became a liability for wts where wts could have been sued as in case like Bro Kissass? Now, if wts has nothing to do with appointments but elders do, does it mean that if elders don't know Bro Kissass was a pedophio in the past while wts knew, and elders approve the application, wts would not be accountable? If so does it mean the elders aren't wts reps either? Or are elders the ones who will be liable if Bro Kissass molests someone in field service? Curious on this since at alleged Australian trial wts lawyers stated that jws are not wts' representatives which may mean that this position is being carrying out world wide, separating wts from any jw who are not associated with bethal slaves.

If on the other hand, bethal appointments were just a formality without any deeper check on the applicant, than this is just a simplifying move and elimination of a position that should not have been there in the first place.

If the French nommer is similar to the Spanish nombrar, then it means appoint. So apparently, French bodies of elders appoint and remove regular pioneers now.

So if elders appoint and remove reg. pioneers, why do they have to be differentiated from reg. pubs? Is it just for record as for such to be more committed for those additional hours? For some to have a special 'title?' Seems there would be their publisher record card for proof enough if some applied for Bethel, or special pio.

Why would the Service department have to have record of them, or a second approval, especially since they are not any more a representative of the WTS than any other publisher?

Makes them feel special - not special pioneer = just special

Once upon a time being a pioneer was 'special'. You had to be specially appointed, you had 'personal' letters sent to you from Bethel (everyone got the same letter, but they made it sound special) and when it came to the conventions you had free food tickets. Oh, and the literature was half price.

Now it means zip, except for local 'respect'. So it's no surprise really that it is now handled locally.

I wonder if they were worried about liability claims like where someone sued the Watchtower when a Bethelite was involved in an auto accident. If a pioneer is at fault for an accident while in service, they could theoretically say that they were there at the appointment of the Watchtower and push liability up the ladder.

Why would a pioneer need to be approved ? If they are denied does this mean they should be d/f ? Do the elders need to approve if someone wants to fart as well ?
