I immediately received a boiler-plate reply. Here it is: Thank you for contacting NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams.

Good reply. Way to make their holy reply appear as holey as it truly is.

Excellent letter. Speaking as a mental health professional who commenced training in the early 1990s, I was very well aware of the adverse longer-term effects of child sexual abuse. It was certainly not new on the curriculum. I find it curious that the Watchtower appears not to have disclosed this woman's credentials or discipline. From what she says, she appears to be a social worker. If she is, she should know that her profession was one of the earliest to publicize the adverse impact of sexual abuse in the 1970s. I find it equally curious - to say the least - that no one from the mental health profession in the USA has come forward and questioned this woman's lone opinion.

Thanks OTWO and Abandoned. Clever word twist -- their holy reply appear as holey -- as it truly is, Abandoned.

I read her rebuttal. Totally lame. That is their DEFENSE???? Pedophilia wasn't morally and legally wrong until WHAT YEAR??? Is that their entire answer to the news report? They are pathetic. And evil.

There is a related angle to this sordidly lame Watchtower defense: If the Watchtower is truly God's channel, it should have been at the forefront of measures to protect children, not trailing way behind worldly organizations. I clearly remember that, when the Watchtower made a "ruling" in the 1970s that JWs who continued to smoke tobacco would be disfellowshipped, brothers made comments along the lines of "This shows how the organization is way ahead of the world in matters of health and morality". So, if that really is the case, how do they explain their archaic, reactionary policy on child abuse? They can't, although their sanitised explanation, quoting the lone opinion of some woman from an unknown discipline is very telling.

They are sooooo pathetic! In Christian churches, one is reminded every Sunday to love one's neighbor as oneself. The golden rule covers it. There does not have to be any special dispensation or historical reference point for practicing decency to other human beings, especially children! Thanks for your great letter, Ff. SandraC

Pathetic, indeed, Mum. Old stuff with mainstream churches and society as a whole -- new stuff with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society. Here's more old stuff, I know, but fitting.

The most hardened criminals in society regard the sexual exploitation and abuse of children to be the most repulsive and indefensible acts that a person can commit. Thats why they kill them the first chance they get behind prison walls. Thats why the convited sexual predators have to be segregated from the rest of the prison population. Otherwise they'd all be dead within their first 24 hours of prison. There is only one segment of society that I know of that has ever been stupid enough to even attempt to mount a defense for not knowing what the entire world clearly knows, and has known for 1000's of years. The obvious out of context quotes attributed to a woman who is so important and notable that she has had exactly one interview in her entire career, are a curious sidenote to the fact that the scumbags in Brooklyn would even attempt to mount a defense, or try and deflect attention away from the real issue.....which is that because of their pomposity and arrogance and continual overstepping of bounds, they did what no other citizen in the US would do. They OBSTRUCTED justice by not immediately turning over information to the proper authorities, thereby providing a safe haven for predators within the KH's of America. There is no defense for the indefensible. R's Hubby

The video of Dr. Gail Bethea-Jackson being interviewed on the JW official website I noticed something odd. The upper left corner above the desk is some artwork of kiddy/porn. Are they giving us subliminal messages? Here the link: http://www.jw-media.org/vnr/2122827332/717263.htm

This lady is nucking futs!!!!!!! Problem 1. This is old material and is still being used within their reasoning for current issues. Problem 2. She freely admits that early in her career start, she had no formal training in child abuse or sexual abuse, Problem 3. She laughs when she says "some type of New England medical journal..." Is she demented? 4

jw-media says she is "Dr. Gail Bethea-Jackson, LCSW-C, B.C.D."
She IS NOT A DOCTOR!!! She has a Master's degree, but not a doctorate! Why did JW-Media pick her to feature on their website? Here is her biography: On August 1, 1995, Gail Bethea-Jackson founded The Pathfinder Project, Inc., a holistic therapeutic, afro centric agency for adolescents at risk and their families. Ms. Jackson is a clinical social worker specializing in the area of victimization with an advanced certificate in child and adolescent psychotherapy from the Washington School of Psychiatry. She received her BA at Hampton (Institute) University in Hampton, Virginia; and a then went on to earn her Master's in Social Work from the School of Applied Social Sciences at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Once completing her Master's, she worked for Cuyahoga County Social Services where she was one of the initial members of their sexual abuse Task Team. While in Cleveland, she handled cases related to sexual abuse. Ms. Jackson later relocated to the Washington, D.C. area, where she was employed at the Children’s Hospital National Medical Center in the Division of Child Protection for six (6) and a half (½) years specializing in Child sexual abuse and adolescent offenders. Three of Mrs. Jackson’s years with Children's Hospital were spent in the role of Senior Therapist for the Adolescent Offender Program, where she treated adolescents and oversaw the administration of the program. Mrs. Jackson has served on numerous boards, published articles, lectured and presented workshops locally as well as nationally on the subject of Adolescent Offenders and the treatment identification of victimization. She also serves as a consultant to a variety of agencies regarding the issue of victimization and post traumatic stress. She has maintained a private practice for seven years, specializing in the field of victimization and adolescent issues prior to opening her own agency. She is currently the Director of a private practice in Maryland specializing in victims of abuse as well as adolescent issues. She is a consultant to Prince George’s County Social Services Sexual Abuse Unit, and was consultant to Prince George's Family Preservation Unit; The Family Connection until its closing in 1999. She was also the organizer of the Maryland Chapter for APSAC, (American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children).
