DA-ing Announcement in the Society's New Book

  The society's new book 'Organized to do Jehovah's Will', to be released in the congregations

  on the 20th of March, introduces a change in the DF and DA announcements. Now both

  announcements will read the same: "[Name of person] is no longer one of Jehovah's

  Witnesses."

  The book also redefines the notion of a disassociation to apply to an individual who"deliberately

  repudiates his Christian standing, rejecting the congregation by his actions or by

  stating that he no longer wants to be recognized as or known as one of Jehovah's

  Witnesses" (p. 155).

  This change (the old book made no reference to the person's actions), is in line with the

  society's policy of DA-ing those who do not comply with its instructions regarding blood,

  voting, joining the military, etc., while avoiding the potential legal problems of

  disfellowshipping in such cases.

  I believe the society will tighten its grip on the publishers even more. No changes in sight.

  While not unexpected, this is disturbing. I wonder if a new wave of DA'ings will arrive with the book. So far doc and I haven't been officially DA/DF'd, although from the way we are completely shunned by dubs we might as well have been.

  This looks to me to be a way for the society to get rid of those they think may be apostates. Remember how they changed their policy on jws being able to associate with DAd ones, to disfellowship Raymond Franz? Now they have a clear cut, simple way to DA thousands of people to keep us away from the "faithful."

  I notice you mentioned voting......isnt voting a matter of conscience......that was the last i heard over here in australia...........

  I foresee them eventually making everything a DA'ing offense to somehow get around the regulations of things like the European Court of Human Rights, etc. The cause, consequences, form used (S77) and announcement are the same. If you persist in fornication you will be adjudged to have "rejected the congregation by your actions".

  Well if they actually carry that out, there'll not be many JWs left since they're all a bunch of sinners and by their actions fall short of WTBTS standards every day. And from my experience a bunch of lying, two-faced buggers too!

  That sure is a very broad definition of no longer being a JW. I wonder if someone can be DAed for missing too many meetings... not getting enough FS hours. What if a body of elders demands that someone do something unscriptural**? Can that body of elders DA a person in response?

  Wonder how this will affect long time faders who have a worldly Girlfriend,celebrate xmas and Birthdays and vote??

  I swear somehow I knew this would happen one day.
  
  They basically want to lump those who DA'ed themselves (for instance for doctrinal reasons) with those who were DF'ed, to give the impression that it's always the person's fault when he/she is no longer a witness.
  
  I mean how can a person consciously decide to refute the irrefutable TRUTH?
  
  Now they only have to say: "He's no longer a witness", so that brother Joe doesn't have to worry abuot those questions.
