I can't believe it, but a kid got marked for having worldy friends.

It's true. Last night, a kid got marked for having worldy friends. The usual no friendship with the world texts made its way in. The elder repeated several times that the kid had been admonished several times, but refused to listen to the elders' advice. The elder giving the talk in the Local Needs also went to great lengths to emphasize that while this wasn't a DFing offense, it was serious business. I guess they (elders) didn't take too kindly being brushed aside. It almost sounded like he wanted the kid to get DF'ed. He almost had a sad, dejected tone about his not get DF'ed.

I still can't believe they can do that. This religion is ridiculous. The way this religion controls its members makes me irate.

And that is exactly how they manage to lose 2/3 of their born-ins.

I agree Billy. They're shooting themselves in the foot. It's sad and ugly to watch but part of me wants to say, "Keep shooting!" How long until that "marked" kid is joining us here?

That is so sad! How old is the child? Glad he has normal friends to hang out with, that way he will not miss being ignored by the youth at the hall. I remember 1 elder & 1 pious sister at the old congregation. So proud of their teens spirituality. Then would talk about how popular their kids were (they were in High School). I remember the elder nudging his wife to tell others how his son was voted best looking in his Senior Class ( Not a small school). Hmmm. Interesting! How did these spiritual kids get so popular with their peers? Through all the witnessing they were doing at school? Don't get me wrong, they were nice kids, but they wanted to NORMAL!! Guess the old saying it's not what you know, but who you know might be true?

Prov 22:6 is a scripture that Jehovah's Witnesses have never come close to fulfilling.

" Train up a boy according to the way for him; even when he grows old he will not turn aside from it."

    It's as Billy said,

Some worldy people are nicer than JWs! I'd rather be friends with people who like me regardless of my religion

Call the elders when you are in dire need of help, and they are way too busy with preparation for meeting parts and elder business. But when they think the elders think they can have some dirt on a member or if they think they get to investigate or form a committee, these dirtbags all come running ready to get their rocks off...Targeting a kid...how pathetic

It's minor details, but the talk was probably about having worldly friends so that every member was clear who was being marked, while the actual marking took place because he refused to obey their counsel that was beyond their authority.

It is a cult. Typically, the best thing to do would be to not tell JW's everything.
