A sister went to invite my mother to the memorial but got worried when she didnt answer the door so she called me to see if she was ok. She mentioned to me why she went to see her and told me the time. I am not sure she would have called me if my mom answered her door .

Creative ways of counting field service time
by 4thgen inthere was a sister in my congregation that signed up to aux pioneer one month to put in 60 hours.
we couldn't figure out why she was never at the arrangements, but yet she said she got in her time early in the month.
we found out later that we wrote a letter that took her an hour.

I knew heard of a pioneer that left tracts while on tour in the Vatican in Rome and blitz the vendors ourside. Man, she had balls!

There was a brother since diseased who put a 3 minute scriptural message on his voicemail and counted the time on each call received. occassionally he would chanegethe message so he can count time PLUS return visits. He was a pioneer for about 5 years.

When you donate to a nonprofit without hesitation or guilt.
when someone sneezes and you say 'God bless you.'
When you throw out all your pantihose because you know you never have to wear a skirt again.

I concentrate real hard on what is being said and NOT said. Listening for spin and untruths.
When that fails or I get too agitated, I look at the people and try to figure out why THEY are there.

Garage Sales! Yes! There was a sister at our last hall who was known for that. She would even have parts on the Service Meeting. Others in my old halls thought that was deplorable.

Just Kidding, yep you reminded me of that....I saw the golfing thing before. As a matter of fact, one of the brothers who were counting time, got beaned in the head while on the golf cart. It was a congregation joke for a long time. (Maybe he should have had his head examined!)

Some hearty pioneers used to arrange an annual fishing trip into the wilderness. They ALWAYS brought a Bible study with them to count their time, while they were on the lake drinking beer.
The sisters used a different approach. Theirs involved going to the mall.
